Hi all I’ve not posted for a while so I thought I’d drop a bit of an update. I am post op 8 week and recovery has gone really well. I had bilateral nerve sparing apparently ( I read it after the op ) which I think has contributed to me being continent after TWOC . I read that nerve sparing options are assessed during the actual op by the surgeon ( not sure how. Any info anyone ). I had a bit of a low mood recently as the months of appointments test etc seem to take a toll although it creeped up on me. I had a good article that was shared by millebob ( bri ) and it helped massively. I have an appointment on oct 30 for post histology results and psa and am hopeful it will be positive although I’m sure I’m not alone when we focus on what could be said negatively even though my stats etc would suggest things should be ok. I read the forum regularly and if anyone need advice on the op etc I’ll try and help. Cheers all. Keep up the good work many do. Simon

That's a brilliant post and a cracking situation to be in.
My understanding (and I am not medically trained) is that there are 2 bundles of nerves around the prostate and it's only when they start surgery they can see if there are any issues in getting at the prostate gland without touching the nerves. Don't forget they are working from scans before you go under the knife.
Thanks for your offer to help others - it's much appreciated.
Kind Regards - Brian.

Thanks bri. Am I correct in thinking that if there’s been nerve sparing it shows that it wasn’t outside the prostate in the nerves which is possibly a good thing I’m glad to help if anyone has any issues as I remember being quite apprehensive before surgery and reading positives outcomes made me less anxious ( only slightly though Hahah ). Thanks Simon
Yes Simon (Simon64) that's correct. Your urinary and sexual functions should work properly too - given time.
Kind Regards - Brian.

Urinary is fine and has been since TWOC. The ed is coming on with tadefil but not as before but too be honest I’m not concerned The continent thing was a big concern before the op and I’ve been incredibly lucky and have amazed a couple of my nurses who have mentioned it quite unusual to be continent immediately. I bought quite a few packs of pads, and brief things which I happily donated to my local prostate McMillan group Cheers bri.
