Hi, my husband started taking Relugolix hormone a few weeks ago which has thankfully taken away the terrible metastatic bone cancer pains in his hip and leg. He's had 2 rounds of Docetaxel infusions and takes Darolutamide tablets alongside other meds. He now has constant alternating sweats and shivers. He has just started taking Progesterone tablets in an attempt to combat this. Does anyone have experience of whether this worked for them? We understand it could take a few weeks and may not work at all. Feeling a bit desperate at times as he is so miserable with this, as well as already low mood from the hormone treatment, fatigue, sore mouth etc. I feel so helpless and sad for him.
I've had severe hot flashes day and night after starting my hormone treatment, I was eventually prescribed medroxyprogestrone and for me it really sorted it. I still get some hot flashes but they're very mild, they don't interrupt my sleep and I don't soak my clothes in sweat.
Hope it helps your husband too.

That is so good to hear! Thanks for giving us some hope How long did it take to have an effect roughly? I know everyone is different of course.
All the best to you
That's quicker than we were hoping! So good to know and this will keep us going after another night of broken sleep and musical beds...It may not work for him but fingers crossed Thank you
I'm on the same triplet therapy - in my case Prostap HT, Docetaxel (finished Sept 2024) and darolutamide. I also get the hot flushes but fortunately not as bad as your husband and don't need to take anything to combat them, but I have noticed that they become more intense and frequent in the few weeks before my 12 weekly HT injection is due.
The docetaxel side effects sound familiar, especially the sore mouth, and should all gradually subside after the last cycle is completed. I wrote a blog during my treatment and, although everyone reacts differently, there are some common issues. The link is below if you're interested in reading it. Rest assured he should start to feel better in the weeks after chemo ends.
I wish you all the best for successful treatment,
Derek.
Hi Noelle970f24 , have you mentioned the sore mouth to your team. There are mouth washes which can be quite effective and relieve some soreness.
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
Thank you so much Derek, I certainly will read it thank you.
