Hello again
I’m so sorry to be back asking another question
but has anyone suffered insomnia since having the hormone
injections and radiotherapy?
my dad has had a terrible time for many weeks unable to sleep
at all
the GP did give him some sleeping tablets which at first helped
but then seemed to were off effectiveness
and now he’s reluctant to prescribe anymore, just wondered if anyone has suffered from this
again many thanks
Lesley xx
Hi Lesley,
I can't say I noticed any difference to my sleeping pattern when having my treatment, but generally it was fine beforehand anyway. I'm not sure if it helped at all but I made sure I kept myself busy during the rest of the day (lots of walking / gardening in the fresh air etc) so I felt naturally tired rather than because of the HT. I also made sure I avoided any drinks with caffeine in them.
I don't recall it being mentioned as an issue in any previous posts but may well be mistaken, but I'm sure others will be along shortly with some thoughts on the matter.
Best Wishes
Brian
Questions?
Ask away, it’s the only way to learn. Ask away.
Personally I’m always tired but rarely sleep well during the day. So I can’t help much. Sorry.
Is it a problem that can be assisted by relaxation therapy of some kind. My head is full of stress and strain and I can be my own worst enemy when it comes to sleeping. I’m on loads of pills too so my body is probably struggling to cope with all the changes to my new-normal.
Good luck and take care - the both of you.
Hi thank you for the reply
I think that’s what’s going on with my dad
he said as much to the GP that his mind is racing
with silly things that he can’t switch off from
hope you manage to get rest and sleep
look after yourself
and thank you x
Thanks for the reply
its hard to know because the GP said it could be a side effect, and also the pharmacist
but Macmillan said they hadn’t heard of radiotherapy causing sleep issues
so we’re none the wiser
hopefully it’s a phase that will pass
Many thanks again
best wishes
Lesley
I agree with the idea of the mind racing.
During the radiotherapy I found myself sleeping very lightly.
Heaven alone knows why, because I was very tired.
I drifted along from dream to dream, always restless.
This gradually wore off, and I am now sleeping most of the night.
Oddly, my wife. Now gets up more often than I do. She wakes me up though. Revenge for the snoring I think.
Steve
Changed, but not diminished.
Hi thanks for the reply
it’s also my mum I feel for because he keeps her awake as well hoping it will get easier for both of them soon
look after yourself
thanks Lesley x
