Hi all,
I'm currently waiting for RALP following an end to AS due to my mental state.
Estimated time now is 11 weeks.
52 years old G7 3+4 , 30cc present in 5 from 6 locations on the prostate and 8 from 19 cores.
Since May 2025 my psa has risen from 4.9 to 10 to 12
Is this irrelevant as I'll be having ralp in 11 weeks ? Or would you suggest anything else could or should be looked at now.
Many thanks
Hello Steve (Steve1973)
It's a Gleason 7 (you don't give your TNM score) but as long as the cancer is contained in the gland 11 Weeks should be fine. It will give you plenty of time to practice your pelvic floor exercises.
I wish you well with the surgery.
Best wishes - Brian.

Thanks Brian, meeting with Surgeon at Christies is next Wednesday.
I'm now starting to second guess my decision.
The consultant oncologist ?? If that's the correct name at Christies didn't want to entertain any thoughts of radiotherapy or brachtherepy, he recommended the surgical route from the start.
I trust his judgement given his position, his argument about increased risks of other cancer in the future given my age and the positive outlook using davinci ralp machine.
However I see so many others going down different routes i can't help but second guess the advice. I just go round in circles, if I read about a great outcome with RALP I feel I've made the right choice. A negative outcome and I'm second guessing. I guess the surgeon feels I'm a good candidate for low incontinence and nerve sparing. Well I guess I'll see
Hello Steve (Steve1973)
As you may well be aware if you have read my profile I am under Christies - I am under Oncology as with a high PSA and possible spread at the start of the journey surgery was out from the start. (Good job really as I am a wimp and wouldn't have gone down that route anyway).
The correct course of action is Urology and Oncology should have had a MDT meeting and put out their preferred option to you. Have you spoken to Oncology or just the surgeon?
I can't argue against a medical decision - if you have been told surgery and there's no other option then down that route you go - but it's your body and your choice. You are young enough to recover well from any treatment. There are other treatments out there.
If you are local to greater Manchester I am happy to chat face to face - drop me a Private Message - my message box is open.
Best wishes - Brian.
