I am 16 days post-op and one week without catheter after RALP.
Before surgery I was pretty diligent with pelvic floor exercises and used the Squeazy app. All the advice is to restart PFE as soon the catheter is out, but I have struggled with this. The first few days my muscles were tight and tired, so it was too hard to get beyond one or two long squeezes.
I can now manage long squeezes, but as soon as I try the short rapid squeezes, I end up leaking and squirting pee, so I am now sitting on the loo to do them. Have others experienced this?
I thought I would try the PFE after emptying my bladder, but I don't seem to have the muscle strength right away to do them.
I'm thinking I should just focus on the long squeezes for now, and maybe I'll have more success with short squeezes later, as I don't want to intentionally wet myself every time I do PFE.
Any advice to share?
Although i cannot speak directly to this, not having had a RALP, I can bring other problems to mind.
My own experience is that, especially as we age, our bodies do not recover quickly.
I think you are doing exactly the right thing moving in stages.
I am happy to place a small be that you will recover this skill in the fairly near future.
