How long were you on the HT treatment? I think stress causes all sorts of complications including worse hot flushes however yours are after your treatment finished. I would guess there’s a period that the HT is still in your body after the treatment finishes, perhaps someone else will help with more experience. My HT is for life but the flushes lately have been much less which I put down to the chemo I’m on disrupting my body in every way possible. Hang in there I’m sure they’ll stop in time.
I had 28 days on Hormone with 6months terrestrial followed with 20 sessions of radiotherapy, As well as the hot flushes returning, I'm still not up to full fitness or energy levels. Doesn't help they have put into action my stenosis spinel nerve damage, This was obviously put on hold whilst treating the cancer. I am probably facing surgery on the bottom part of neck and possibly either surgery on my lumber part of back, or a epidural injection every 6 months and on top of all this the latest checkup at doctors, I now have high cholesterol. But I'm still staying positive with having been given a second life with hopefully recovering from the cancer,
That’s a lot going on all at once, things will take a while to settle with overlapping issues and drugs coming and going. I’d give yourself a break and keep in mind your last sentence, and positive stance about it all…
you are recovering and have a second chance so be brave and happy. We will cheer you on so keep the mindset and be yourself - for today we are alive.
Hi Terence M
I finished radiotherapy at the end of April and had my last hormone Injection then too and I've been the same. The hot flushes have been worse more so if I'm a bit stressed and also fatigue and low mood. I was at the hospital yesterday to talk to a Macmillan support worker and I'm being referred for some psychological support. I was told not to underestimate the impact of the radiotherapy and hormone drugs on your body I think it obviously is different for everyone but it can take time after treatment finishes. I didn't expect this after treatment finished but I'm told it is not uncommon.
Best Wishes
Michael
Hi Terence M , I sympathies deeply with you. I completed HT in mid August 2024 and had my last HT implant mid October 2024. I'm still experiencing the side effects of both, the hot flushes being somewhat frustrating in this warmer weather. The ED has not yet improved either but my CSN does reassure me that this is not unusual and it will all improve eventually. Every time I ask I am told that everyone experiences these effects differently.
I'm afraid it's just a case of keeping positive and thankful that we've all got an extended future.
I wish you all the very best for your future.
Rod
Thank you. Mr U . As you say so much going on. it is affecting my mental state with one thing after another, but unlike 6 years ago I got very depressed so much so I complimented ending my life, wasn't talking to any one about my situation, not even my family, this time round I'm being open with family and friends. So much to live for, 2 beautiful granddaughters who worship me, I still work at 70 but have dropped to part time and the care home I work for are very flexible on when I want to work and not work. And my beautiful wife of 40 years in September and I get massive support from the Westbromwhich Albion fan base fiends
