Monitoring and assistance during treatmebt

I’m 18 months into HT (6 monthly injections) and a year post RT.  After 6 monthly PSA tests I initially received a phone call and last time I had an appointment with a nurse urologist. An appointment was made for after my next test (August) but suddenly it was cancelled. I telephoned to ask why it had been cancelled and was told that I’d been transferred to a Prostate Self Management Programme (apparently because my condition is “stable”). I then received details of this by post.  I tried to follow up on the contacts but get no response at all. I’m in North Wales. Has anyone else been put on the “programme”? If so, what are your experiences?

  • Hello

I am under The Christie in Manchester and we have a system called PEASS (Prostate Easy Access Self Service).

If you take a look at this thread:

Uro-oncology Remote Stratified Follow up Pathway

I have detailed there how "our" system works with a link to it. It's worked well for me and I understand it's being "rolled out" to other health authorities - although it looks like your version isn't working too well.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi

I think quite normal if stable after treatment.

As long as PSA doesn't start going upwards then all ok.

When you come off HT then re evaluate and of course PSA could move around a bit at that stage

    Best wishes

  • We are under the University Hospitals of Leicester. My husband had RT and HT that finished in May 2024. His next oncology appointment will be the last if his PSA has remained stable. He will go onto the remote surveillance programme with 6 monthly PSA checks. If his psa rises he will be referred back to oncology.
