Hi

Can anyone help me interpret these results please?  Here goes!

1.  Prostate volume 68cc, PSAD 0.84

2.  37mm homogenus T2 hypotensie signal of the transitional zone extending from the upper mid gland to ape, 6-1 o'clock, with corresponding marked diffusion restriction and enhancement (se3:18,450: 18,7:291) There is broad pericapsular contact over 40mm, however no clear extraprostatic extension.

3.  Normal seminal vesicles.

4.  No lymph node enlargement

5.  Right inguinal hernia containing a loop of non-obstructed sigmoid colon.  Trabeculated urinary bladder in keeping with chronic outflow obstruction.

6.  No bone metastases demonstrated.

7.  Normal vertebral alignment and cord signal

Conclusions:

Large PI-RADS 5 lesion of the transitional zone.  Targeting is advised.

Any help would be appreciated.  We were aware of the hernia.

Many thanks Slight smile

  • Hi D

    I remember you of course.

There are people on here who know more than me about results but on the face of it not too bad.

Best news is no spread, so potentially curable, presume they have talked about treatment.

On your previous posts I can't remember if  u talked about tumour size in mm, that's quite important info.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Thank you for your reply. We haven't discussed treatment yet as he still has to have a biopsy (booked for 15th July) and possibly a PET scan. All we have regarding size is on that MRI scan not sure if it's 37mm or 44mm though.

  • Hello

Here you go-but I am not medically trained:

    1. That's a large Prostate!

    2. There is cancer detected and at least 40mm of the cancer is lying on the Prostate Gland outer wall. There is no sign the cancer has escaped the gland.

    3,4 6 & 7 - No sign of cancer here.

5 - You are aware of this.

    Conclusion:

We have a clear view on the MRI and there is a high chance of Prostate Cancer and a biopsy is advised. The cancer is in the transitional zone of the Prostate (that's the main area where cancer starts).

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thank you Brian. That is really helpful and it sounds as if it could have been worse!

    Thanks again

  • Ok, so potentially a largish tumour but not broken through.

Good luck with the biopsy, hopefully lowish Gleeson
