Hi , has anyone got any suggestions haw to boost my testosterone levels it has been 0.3 for the past 7 months now, which is when I finished my radiotherapy thanks Paul
Hi Paul1963 When did you have your last hormone jab? I had my last one in December last year and still waiting for Tommy T to return (although I was on hormone therapy for 18 months, with my final jab at the 15 month mark). AW
I can't answer your question but I would be interested to know.
I had 6 months of HT starting 11th November (2 x Prostap injections) and I had a blood test during my planning scan in January. Testosterone level was 0.6, which I believe is par for the course. I had RT in March and at the end of the treatment I asked one of the radiographers if there was anything I could do about testosterone levels. I was told it was best to let nature take it's course.
I asked the same question to my oncologist during a consultation 6 weeks after RT finished. Got the same answer. He also said that whatever the duration of your HT was it could take about 50% of that duration to get back to normal (so for me about 11th August is liberation day).
Hi aw, I had my last hormone jab in July last year
Ah Paul1963 - I can see why you’re asking the question. Think of it as starving any potential cancer but without the jabs - but I feel sure that Tommy T will return eventually. We’re all so different. Millibob had hormone jabs for three YEARS, but his testosterones recovered in two MONTHS! You’re in the same boat as me - still waiting. On the plus side, I’m not having any treatment (apart from 5 mg per day to stop penile atrophy) and, as I don’t have ED - but also no libido - I’m happy to wait to be a teenager again! AW
Hi Paul1963 . There is an interesting discussion on this topic.
It is implying that it is possibly a little early for you to have full testosterone recovery for up to 18 months even if you have only had a short course of ADT. If it is shown that your testosterone doesn't return to a satisfactory level within the expected time period then you can ask to be referred to an endocrinologist.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
