Effects of Hormone therapy

Hi

I thought that my problems with my health after Radiotherapy was down to the hormone injections, getting dizzy spells, stumbling, slurring my speech and extreme lethargy, falling asleep all the time. I was told that this could be expected in some cases.

Back in 2019 I was tested for B12 deficiency which proved positive and had a course of B12 injections over a week, I was told that is all I would need.

Fast forward to two weeks ago and my younger sister said to me that she thought I might be suffering from B12 deficiency again, a visit to one of my GP's to ask if their would test me again saw the GP look back at my records, he said that he was puzzled why they hadn't put me on a three monthly B12 injection considering my family history of B12 deficiency, my Grandfather, Mother, sister and two brothers were all B12 deficient.

I now have five ampoules in my fridge waiting for a a visit with the GP to get them next week, then one every 3 months for the rest of my days.

The GP has told me that most of the problems that I thought I was having with the Hormone therapy is down to B12 deficiency.

The original fall down the steps at the back and the front of our house that sent me to my GP and being diagnosed with PC was just coincidence, as I got older I just thought and accepted my dizzy spells and weakness were down to aging.

Life is a strange journey, much of mine has been exciting and full of adventures and fun and in some ways still is, my problems today are part and parcel of that life and despite all of my  post on here I am still enjoying it, even though PC has changed how I have to do and cope with things, especially lifting heavy weights.

Many thanks to those that have replied and given me hope, I have learnt a lot from reading the posts on here, my best a wishes go out to all those that are having hard time coming to terms being diagnosed with PC, I did, it took away what I considered was my control of my life.

I have no god or religion but do respect everyone else's choice, my best wishes and hopes for the future I

send to everyone..

Cyril

  • My Mrs has B12 deficiency and it knocks her for 6 for a while as she’s coming up to the end of the three month wait for the next injection. So I can only vaguely imagine what it was like on top of HT without the injections! Hopefully the injections will give you a big boost and get things back on track for you.

    Best wishes!!

  • Hello Cyril (

Well that's a bit of good news - finding out the cause of everything and it's not all down to Hormone Therapy.

I must say I have been on daily B12 pills for a number of months and my GP has just switched me to a weekly one so there's plenty of us around with a B12 deficiency.

Here's hoping for a big improvement.

    Best wishes - Brian.
