Well, PSA results are back and it's up again as expected, now at 3.80.

Further blood tests ordered to test my testosterone (I can tell them it's back without a test Innocent) and liver and kidney function and a PSMA PET Scan is being ordered.

I will keep you all updated - I know now after 3.5 years why they call this a "journey"

Thank you all for your comments and good wishes and continued support across the entire Community.

  • That helicopter ride is why most standard annual travel cover doesn’t include a cruise. It’s mostly an additional cost that needs to be added. That’s why it would depend on where I was going. A trip to Spain for France for example I would travel without the insurance cover if it was so expensive.

  •   my partners insurance company (insurancewith) asked for most recent psa readings, no scans since diagnosis, questions focused on symptoms and treatment, psa level. People need to shop around.

  • Thank you I did look at them but I think the problem was they only cover cancellation for up to £5,000 per person

  • I think with cruising too, it bumps premiums up for anyone regardless of diagnosis.....I really hope you get a reasonable quote and are able to enjoy many cruises!Blue heart

  • Hi  - if my current PSA was 0.03 (basically undetectable) I would NOT be paying anything like that for insurance!  When I was still having HT and my PSA was that low, I switched to normal insurance which included everything but PC, which I was confident would not affect my hiking.  The annual policy for Europe for both of us, came in at £89.43 (silver cover, multi trip).  AW

  • HOW MUCH???  Was that for everyone on the cruises?  The travel insurance companies know how to fleece us.  But we need the travel insurance...

It might have included the cruise price as well.

    I thought £500+ was expensive!

  • Hello Shar,

Would you be able to tell me which insurer you're with at the moment? I'd also be interested to learn who the other one is, and what the outcome of your investigations is when you decide.

By all means pm me if you wish.

    Derek.

  • The problem is if husband for example fell and broke his leg the insurance company could say that because of his hormone injection/ daralutamide which can affect bones then this was the cause of his break. I saw something that said you can't exclude certain conditions but include others. We just have to factor it in to the annual cost of our cruises. I do wish someone would do something about the scan question though as this is where the main problem lies.

  • I have had two DEXA scans that prove my bone density is still within normal limits (I have a third DEXA scan due in March: my NHS consultant is very supportive).  To be fair to you, my bones have the benefit of regular mountain exercise. The hiking company that I work for also insure me (I declared all treatment).   I also chart all my readings so I can prove due diligence.  AW

  • Thank you. I have just looked again at the company I am considering and they say that you have to declare everything, not doing so could mean your policy is invalid and is cancelled. When I come back in my next life I am going to own an insurance company
