As stated I'm now 3 months post op and I've developed new issues which no matter how I try i can not divorce from my prostate cancer. I have seen my GP but I had to see one GP three times before he took me seriously and did a PSA. My GP did apologise when the results came back positive ffb but by then a year had passed? I am not saying it's cancer but I'm scared something will be missed again!

  • Hello Alan (

If you have developed new issues and you think they are connected to the cancer diagnosis then my advice would be to contact your team at the hospital. If you are going to your GP and you are not happy with their findings then you need to escalate your worries to the Practice Manager.

I do hope you can sort these issues out.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Brian. Thanks for that.

I am not saying the new symptoms are definitely related but I no longer have faith in what I'm told by the GP and I can't seem to overcome this. As a result my life is pretty difficult

I am worried that if I approach my team my concerns may be seen as over active health anxiety and I can't face the thought of this

    It's a mess

    Alan

  • Hello Alan (

So if it's a particular GP then as I said - you need to speak to the practice manager of change your GP practice. If it's the fact you have lost faith in the GP system then you possibly need some outside intervention.

Again your cancer team are there for you - they are aware we all worry about things but our health is very important - don't feel bad about going back to them with questions - it's what they get paid for.

You only have one life and you need to look after yourself but in this modern age you need to advocate for yourself too. Do come back to me if you need some further help but I hope you can get the help you need from the GP or your team.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi  , you mentioned that you have new symptoms, are you able to tell us what these are?   I know that you felt that you didn’t have a good relationship with your CNS but that shouldn’t stop you from going to them for advice.  David

  • Hi and thanks for your ongoing support. GP rang me today and has requested a raft of bloods and investigations. I am glad to say I got it wrong g and she is doing her best to get me sorted

  • Brilliant Alan (

I wish you well and hope you get sorted soon.

    Best wishes - Brian.
