Good afternoon my fellow PC people. Having being diagnosed with PC in November I knew from the outset that surgery was for me, and now 8 weeks post of my opinion has not changed . However the dreaded incontinence and ED continue and they are becoming quite tiresome. Whilst the incontinence is slowly getting better the ED is most definitely not. I might be 67 but I miss the sex! I am a dead as a dodo down below and I am struggling with the vacuum pump. At this moment in time my penis looks like it has been jumped on, swollen, not in the good way with bruising and a tear to my foreskin. I must be doing something wrong even though I read and complied with the instructions to the letter. Can anyone suggest alternatives to the pump before I give up entirely and confine my libido to the dustbin.
Grateful for any suggestions.
Good Afternoon Alan (Al985)
I am so sorry to find you having issues in this department. First off here's a link that may help you, this details the alternatives available to the pump:
Erection Problems & Sexual Wellbeing
If the pump isn't working or you need more help I would contact your team and ask for a referral to your local sexual health clinic who should be able to help.
I do hope this helps.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi and thanks again for your continued support. This forum has been excellent in helping me to keep my head above water.
I have been referred to the Andrology clinic but there is a waiting list of 6 months plus, is this what you are suggesting? I can arrange an appointment myself if it is the sexual health clinic, I never thought of that so again, thanks.

Hi I have been struggling with ed for about 4 years now and I've only just been diagnosed with pc in the last 3 months,I've tried the pump, all the tablets and even injections I am now on Cialis 5mgs daily but still nothing ,I'm only 64 and don't want to give up on sex but I think I may have to sadly I hope you find something that works for you
Hello Alan (Al985)
It may well be different health authorities, I know when I was under urology (which I am not now) I was asked if I needed any help in that department and if so I would be referred to the "sexual health clinic" (I said no as I thought they sorted out people who had caught something!! ).
I completed my 3 years Hormone Therapy in December and to quote Celine Dion *It's all coming back to me now". .
I do hope you don't have to wait 6 months - give them a call and tell them you can take any cancellation.
Best wishes - Brian

Hi !
I suppose there is no textbook answer when ED might go away after prostatectomy. What is however known as good help in penile rehab is:
- vaccum pump and by your description you might be a little bit gentler on the friend down there
- Lots of floor and pelvic excercise, perhaps every day if possible
- If not used, definetily adding either daily Tadalafil 5 mg. Some use Sildenafil like 50 - 100 mg 3 times a week
On a good note, if you think of sex and miss sex I would say you don’t really have a problem with libido loss. Take it from us being on hormone therapy and knows the feeling of lost libido
