Hi everyone.
My dad is 57 and last week was diagnosed with prostate cancer following the request of PSA blood test due to a strong family history. His PSA is 7.
He had an initial MRI which gave T2 N0 MX and then a biopsy of 18 cores with all 18 showing cancer and a Gleason score of a 7 (3-4).
He had a CT scan last Wednesday following the diagnosis and from what I have read online that seems standard procedure for the NHS to check for spread to ensure his treatment pathway is correct. At the moment we believe his diagnosis is localised prostate cancer with a very good prognosis.
For those of you who had follow up scans after the diagnosis - how long did you have to wait for the results and how did you get the results?
Thank you
There is a process which most hospitals go through which is designed to check and double check what is going on.
I had my bone scan and CT scan on the same day. I waited 2 weeks for the results. They came in a meeting with a specialist nurse, who started me in hormone therapy.
Interestingly, because of this site, and the people here, I already had a pretty good idea what was going to happen and why, so I was happy with both the results and the start of a plan.
I did have to wait another 2 weeks for the oncologist to confirm that the people on this site were right, but that happened too.
My hope is that your results follow the same process as mine.
Steve
