I was given an urgent referral for an MRI, CT and bone scan on 27th March. Had the MRI and CT scan within 2-3 days of the referral. I'm now into the third week of waiting for a bone scan. At the end of the second week I got a confirmation that I am on the waiting list.
Has anyone else experienced waiting this long for an urgent referral? Seems a bit long to me. :-(
My husband has been waiting for a bone scan for a couple of weeks - it’s not an urgent request as such, but then he has been in the system since an urgent urologist referral in mid December…..
Our hospital trust have been unable to do any bone scans at all this month because of a shortage of what the specialist nurse called dye. She told us this is national shortage and that it wouldn’t be possible to get a private scan either.
We’ve looked this up and it’s apparently because of various problems at key nuclear reactors which produce the products used in making the critical tracer, Tc-99m, used in bone scans
