I write the following with an enormous heavy broken heart.
I'm sorry to inform you all that Joe finally lost his fight and has sadly passed away.
After a 9 year fight and many gruelling treatments they all took their toll and Joe's kidney's failed.
Joe always thought that each and every poster on this site was his 2nd family, he spent countless hours contributing to this site and was chuffed to pieces when Macmillan acknowledged his contributions.
He wrote to each individual with a personal and understanding approach, he understood how scared not just the person who had been diagnosed was but their family members were too. He was a helping hand for anyone who just needed reassurance, guidance and to know there was someone there if you just needed to talk.
I truly hope that as you face your own journey's you will remember Joe as caring, compassionate, helpful and a friend. When times become difficult and you just need a bit of reassurance, think of Joe as he will be watching over you all willing your journeys to continue, as do I.
I appreciate that this site touches so many people from all different locations and everyone is going through their own situation but if you would like to say a person farewell, Joe's funeral will be on the 23rd April at 11.40am at Agecroft Cemetery, Langley Road, Pendlebury, Swinton M27 8SS, there will be an opportunity to share your experience if you'd like as many don't know how many lives he actually touched.
I end with, Joe my one true love, you can rest now, free from pain and I hope you now have the peace you so truly deserve. From your very proud wife...
RIP my love x
So sorry to hear of your loss , I’m quite new here so have not seen Joe’s contributions but he sounds like an amazing and kind man, never ceases to amaze me some of the kind people that contribute here just to help others and have to admit I think I would have been lost without the support and knowledge I have found on this forum
RIP Joe
Thanks for letting us know David and pass on my husband's and my sincerest condolences to his wife. Joe and I had many conversations on the forum and I always admired his upbeat and helpful attitude even when things were not looking so good for him. He was, and will remain an inspiration for others and will be remembered fondly. I hope we can use that inspiration to continue his legacy and help others on their prostate cancer journey.
Hello David, thank you for letting us all know this very sad news. Joe was so very kind to me when I was struggling big time with my husband’s diagnosis and I will be forever grateful to him and others here who offered me friendship and support when I so much needed it.
i had been aware that Joe has not been doing so well lately but I know, too, that he thought the world of his wife and really valued the care and support she gave him so readily. If you are in contact with her could you please pass on my condolences and also my thanks for ‘sharing’ Joe with us?
RIP Joe and heartfelt thanks!
Very sad news, Joe was already on here when I joined some 5/6 years.
Always positive especially bearing in mind what he was going through.
His positivity filtered through his posts to people who were certainly going through it as well.
So to Joe's family and friends, sorry for your loss
Best wishes
Steve
Hello David2017
Thank you very much for passing on the sad news about Joe. Joe and I had many conversations and I appreciated his support and his help and the amazing contributions he made to tis Community. He was here many a year before me and provided a rock for lots of people who passed through the Community. He was one of the people who inspired me to keep going when I felt like I had had enough of HT.
As a mark of respect, as his funeral is only about 10 miles from where I live I will be attending and will pass on the thanks of the Community to his very proud wife.
Rest in peace Joe and Thank You.
