Hi advice please. Anyone who has undergone radiotherapy did you find it better to have the treatment am or pm? OH and I walk a lot usually in the mornings but wondered if it would be better to continue with morning walks with treatment later in the day or vice versa?
Hello Whittaker
if you have the choice I think you need to consider:
* He will need time to be hydrated and to deal with a Self Enema (empty bowel / full bladder).
* Does your Radiotherapy centre offer free parking and have you a distance to travel. (we had a free gated car park in Oldham).
* Hospital parking can be hectic at best - have a plan, is it worth booking a regular space on a parking app (someone's drive?)
* For the return journey - if it's a long one, make a note of places with a toilet - MacDonalds, Costa Coffee, carry an empty fabric conditioner bottle in the car (you may need it) and if out in the countryside, lay-bys with a large tree!
Radiotherapy can and will introduce fatigue so plan for that too! Lying on the sunbed for a few minutes is the easy part.
best wishes - Brian.

Hi Whittaker,
My appointment times varied from early morning through to late afternoon. Personally I preferred the early ones as parking was easier & then meant I had the rest of the day free to do whatever I wanted (an advantage of being retired) as a reward for completing another session. This varied from lunch out, shopping, visiting a National Trust or going for a walk on the moors / beach. Having something to look forward to seemed to keep any tiredness at bay.
Best Wishes
Brian
Hi Brian - thank you. We have to be at the centre 1 hour before appointment time for the prep and have a 40 minute journey. We are lucky that they provide free parking. I want him to be able to contine his long daily walks if he can and we were trying to decide whether it was better to walk before the treatment and have the appointment later in the day or treatment first and walk later in the day. Obviously everyone is different I was just interested in how others coped.
