Hello People I was first diagnosed in 2019 with P/C P.S.A has changed several times over those years.I had a P.S.A test in December 2024 and it was 32nanogram/ml.And now psa on March 20th is 22.27 ug/L,I have been on Bicalutmide for four months. My P.S.A when first diaganosed was 1220.00 ug/L..Should the P.S.A go down quicker since December 2024?
Hello Summer and Winter . The Bicalutamide acts in a different way to the hormone injections. Whilst it can reduce the PSA the rate at which it does it is variable. The important thing is that the PSA is going down.
While im new to all this i believe your psa should reduce with treatment. My dad was diagnosed on Monday with a PSa of over 4000 : (
Good morning annieblackcat and welcome. Can I suggest you start your own thread and give us a little more information about your dad's diagnosis so that we can help you in a more targeted way. There are many different types of prostate cancer which are treated in different ways. A PSA of over 4000 indicates that a more aggressive treatment pathway will be recommended but what is available can be time dependent as well as age and fitness dependant.
Hi !
Just to understand. You say you where diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2019. You also wrote that your PSA was 1220 when first diagnosed. Didn’t you start any form of treatment from 2019 until 2024?
is your only treatment so far Bicalutamide?
Like Alwayshope writes, as long as the PSA drops that’s the most important part is working
Uflnbg. When first diagnosed I was started on Bicalutamide 150mg for two months then on to Zoladex every twelve weeks(1.8 mg) then Bicalutamide but cannot remember for how long.Over the five years I have been taken off Bicalutamide then on for a month which was then stopped Iam now back on Bicalutamide 50mg ongoing and Zoladex every 12 weeks.
Many Thanks Derek
