Fantastic results but…..

I got a letter today from my consultant. He stated the recent biopsy showed no cancer, and the bone and CT scans were normal. However, as my original PSA was 77.7 he has ordered another PSA blood test, and if the level is still elevated, I will have a sedated prostate biopsy. I know I should be screaming for joy, and indeed I am, but anyone else experience a similar situation? I’m sorry to those who are reading this and are annoyed at me for not being fully appreciative, and maybe picking at the situation. The truth is, I debated with myself if I should even post my results, as there are many, many people on this app who I realise are really seriously ill with prostate cancer, and most of my previous posts have been mostly speculation and in some cases trivial. Please forgive me guys if I’ve been insensitive.

  • Hi Tony,

Never be afraid of asking anything on this forum, even if all you can do is to get everybody else thinking.

Apart from the PSA level, everything else is absolutely cracking. That simply made the PSA level weird, and I can see why a consultant would want to get to the bottom of what is going on.

This website I found shows that there are other conditions which might cause a raised PSA - www.pcf.org/.../ - ask with most of them you could relax.

    Keep us posted.

It was be really interesting to find out what happens, because it's a mystery!

  •   you are not being insensitive.  We all hope one day to get the ‘all clear’ even those on an incurable pathway.  Advances are being made and one day, who knows.  Take care and let us know how you get on.  David

  • Steve, thank you, I will check out the link. Thumbsup

  • Hello Tony (

Thank you for your post and it's great to share your good news. Yes I too am curious about the high PSA and as you have said "the prostate felt hard on one side on the DRE".

Please don't feel at all "insensitive", for me I am curious as to how you have the high PSA with no signs of cancer. On this Community - "everyday is a school day" so please keep us in the loop, we hope with more good news.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Brian, thank you for your continued encouragement and help. Yeah, at the beginning it was indeed hard on one side, and the consultant suspected something sinister. So a mystery indeed! I will continue to update this journey here, and hopefully help someone even in a minuscule way. Thank you again Brian

  • Hi, I pray that your bisopy results are correct. My husband was diagnosed in November 2024 and the 1st lot of biopsies all came back benign even though is PSA was 311. He had a 2nd lot of biopsies taken under a general aesthetic which all came back positive for cancer. He had no symptoms at all upon diagnosis other than back and pelvis pain for a week. His cancer has been graded T1, N1, M1. Currently having chemotherapy and hormone treatment.  Fingers crossed your 2nd lot of biopsies results come back benign as well.

  • Cornwall12, thank you so much for your reply. Yeah, you never know, even when you think it’s ok! Thanks again.

  • Hi

Never ever apologise for  being cautious. Being told that you might have cancer turns your world upside down. It is only when you get a definitive yes or no can you begin to process what's going on. Finger crossed that the first psa was erroneous but be assured if it isn't things have moved on. My consultant stated  o matter the outcome from the biopsies we can deal with it.
