Hi all my partner has his first appointment with the oncologist tomorrow dont really know what to expect or what questions we might need to ask
Bryan has been on bicaculmide for about 6 weeks which is now finshed and he’s had one hormone injection due another one in may
Bryan is waiting to hear about RT we are due to go holiday 28th April for 10 days and worried it may effect us going can it be postponed til we come back so he can have a good time before it all starts thanks x
Hi Clarebryan62 , I am not medically trained but my gut reaction is go for your holiday and postpone the start of treatment until you get back. Try and get the planning before you go ready to start (if you get a date prior to the holiday) as soon as you return. If I have got it wrong, hopefully others will add their comments. David
David2017 i was thinking the same thing as the treatment will knock him back and wouldn’t be able to enjoy the holiday as much I was thinking it be okay because he still on the hormone therapy to stop it getting bigger or spreading thanks for the quick reply
Hello Clare (Clarebryan62)
I totally agree with David (David2017) about the holiday. As for questions to ask- here's a link that may help:

Thank u will take a look at that before the appointment this afternoon yes I will definitely keep u updated do u think yhe oncologist will be okay with us postponing the treatment til we get back I mean they may already give us a date after the holiday anyway who knows thanks Brian x
Hello Clare (Clarebryan62)
I can't see any issues at all in the delay. A holiday is good for your mental health (I am typing this on my balcony in Turkey in bright sunshine).
My Radiotherapy was delayed by 8 months waiting for a TURP operation so a few weeks/months won't matter.
Best wishes - Brian.

Clarebryan62 , if I mention holidays to my oncologist she is adamant that I should go and will move any dates around. Good luck this afternoon. David
Hi Clare
we also wanted a holiday between starting ht and the RT starting. Our travel insurance ( annual with bank) refused to cover anything to do with PC until the RT had been completed.
As soon as RT was completed the insurance cover was restarted but the oncologist advised no overseas travel for 6-8 weeks post HT!
Hi Worriedwife this holiday was booked last year before all this was even thought about so I don’t really want to cancel it as we looked forward to it all year and it’s been a sh*t couple of months we got travel insurance but it’s only for one trip we did try and get a annual one but no insurance companies came up on the comparison website so just got a one off one
so they told ur partner not to travel 6/8 weeks after hormone tablet and injections then ? X
No problem travelling with HT. It may be a suggestion after RT but I can’t recall having that advice myself. Others might add comments.
We are in the same situation we have a holiday booked early June ,first oncologist appointment on the phone this Saturday I've had the tablets and 2 hormone jabs
