Hi everyone name is Jim from Glasgow diagnosed 1st august 2025 started on adt same day biopsy taken was wondering how long it takes for further treatment eg radiation etc
Hello Jim (Jamess)
Welcome to our little club - although I am so sorry to find you here.
It will take about 3/4 weeks to get your biopsy results but the Hormone Therapy will already be working and stopping the cancer from growing. The radiotherapy normally follows in 4/5 months to ensure the Hormone Therapy has put the cancer to sleep.
Feel free to ask any questions, however trivial they may be.
Best wishes - Brian.

I am a Macmillan volunteer.
I was also immediately put on HT and my PSA dropped like a stone, which was great news, yours will too no doubt.
The choice of treatment then on was complex and took a long time, due to DNA tests for mutations. Eventually I was started on a trial 4 months after diagnosis in January 2023. This didn’t affect much at all because my PSA stayed as low as a dash-hounds belly throughout. So as Millibob says, it could be 3 weeks but don’t panic if it’s longer.
Welcome to the club, sad as that is, and ask away any questions that spring to mind - and don’t use the internet for advice, if you can help it.
Hello
Welcome, you will find this group really supportive and helpful, sorry to hear about your diagnosis️. My partner is only 5 weeks into diagnosis, all details are on my profile, we also live in Scotland.
The waiting for results and appointments is the worst, we are now finished with Urology and have first appt with oncology at the end of this month.....I have found reading everyone's bios really helpful, get some idea of the terminology etc, trust your treatment team but ask loads of questions, I keep a note pad and take this into appts, any questions, symptoms, anything at all goes down into this book and it helps keep a timeline too.
Good luck and keep us updated️
Hello Jim, have attached a truncated version of my timeline, starting in Feb of last year. It fits fairly closely with the NHS guidelines and I have been totally happy with all the diagnostics and treatment I have had. My original PSA was 16.6: when I started RT it was 0.9: last reading (Mid Mar 2025) was 0.05. Next two "events" are on the calendar. I have been VERY lucky.......side effects from HT and RT have been minimal to zilch. Tbh I have been very pleased and (perhaps) a little surprised with the way everything has gone (so far !!).
