Following an earlier post and the great support I received, this is just a quick update. My RP was done on 7 Jan and yesterday I had an appointment with the consultant to discuss the outcome. The appointment wasn't until 4pm, so it was a trying to keep busy day whilst, at the same time agonizing about how I'd react to a variety of outcomes. As a certain law would have it, the consultant was running about 30 minutes late, thus ramping up my stress levels. We went in to his office and had some small talk and I asked if we could, in the nicest possible way, crack on with the news. He said that he really wanted to hear how I was getting on, so I told him. As soon as I heard him say "safe margins, all contained in the removed gland" both my wife and I burst into tears. PSA undetectable, another one in four months, then ongoing. It's my 71st birthday next week.
I do appreciate the range of outcomes shared in this group and I'm sensitive in posting this.
My urinary incontinence isn't bad, but rather frustrating, I'm dry at night. With recommended fluid intake levels, I tend to pee every couple of hours at night, whereas pre RP, I might have got up once or twice. The biggest frustration when I'm out walking, which is my big leisure activity, what I'm going to describe as occasional squirting, hopefully ongoing Squeezy work will assist in time. I've some upcoming holidays and a bit concerned about travel to the destinations, one UK road trip, one flight, we shall see.
I'm persisting with the pump, sadly indifferent result so far.
By chance, I saw that my local chiropractor has a thing called an EMS chair that's supposed to massively improve pelvic floor functions, has anyone tried this or is a licence to print money?
Thanks again for your ongoing support and assistance.
Hi RodR,
That's brilliant news to get from your consultant & you can now concentrate on recovering fully from the operation & regaining urinary continence.
I went down the HT/RT route so haven't any tips I can pass on which might help you but I'm sure others will be along shortly who can help.
Can't say I have ever heard of an EMS chair before & an initial search online kept bringing up information about stair lifts & then I found some links to Emsella chairs so assume that this maybe what you are referring to. It will be interesting to see what others thoughts on this as a treatment are.
Best Wishes
Brian
