Afternoon All,
I was researching Vitamin D with Vitamin K found this:

This is a new research from 2024. AH or anyone else, are you familiar with that? Are you all taking D & K? Is anyone knows of vitamin K being a problem?
Lots of love

That's a coincidence. I was researching what hubby should be careful with now that he is going to need anticoagulants for life and one thing that came up was Vitamin K. The advice is to keep levels consistent and be careful if you are taking it as a supplement. This is found in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, kale and broccoli but also bananas. I am always cautious when trials are in mice and the laboratory as this doesn't necessarily translate into humans and as the article points out it needs to be the subject of human trials to get the safe dose sorted.
Overdose can lead to anaemia and jaundice but is rare, although associated more with menadione.
Thank you AH. Yes, since the Fenesteride I am ever so careful and prefer to get what we need through nutrients . However, everywhere I read it points out that the absorption of vitamin D would be much greater if taken combine with vitamin K. It is all a balancing act.
Have a lovely weekend!

Dafna, why do you want to boost the absorption of vitamin D. The prescription dose has been designed for a person in Jacobs situation. High levels of vitamin D can have an adverse effect on the calcium levels in the body so, as you say, it is a balancing act. My husband has regular calcium and vitamin D blood tests to ensure that everything is in balance and I presume Jacob does?
Hi AH,
Our oncologist from the start left all the matter of supplements in our hands so is our GP. Jacob has severe osteoporosis ( nothing to do the the PC) and with the HT, I know it will worsen. His nutrition is excellent but it is not enough. He needs Vit D to help with the bones. It is documented everywhere that Vit K needed to absorb the D.
Where we are, there is not enough sun for Vit D so the supplement is essential. But taking it and not absorbing it is doing no good.
Lots of love
