What treatment, medication are you getting for excessive gas during radiotherapy? I have failed twice on the bed,
adding the two days onto the end of my 20 days.
Any help or suggestions.
Good morning Safeways and glad that your 'holiday' is well under way and that you had a lovely view from your cosy room this morning. It must be more difficult for you choosing meals which are suitable for you whilst away from home but basically try to avoid greens like broccoli and beans, fizzy drinks, cauliflower or fatty foods. A good breakfast choice could be oats. Try adding a probiotic into your diet every day like Greek yogurt or a yoghurt drink as this will help to get the gut back into balance.
Have you spoken to the team about their recommendations? There is also something called WindSetlers which you can get over the counter but check with an expert first.
Hi Safeways great advice as always from AH, I would add try and drink plenty of water during the day (tap is better than bottled) and once you get a routine, just repeat it or something very similar until after treatment on Friday and then start again on Sunday. I agree that the team should be able to help you and if you continue to struggle the hospital dietitian should be able to help. Good luck. Let us know how you get on. David
My radiotherapy team told me to get some windsetlers from the local Tesco Pharmacy, I explained to the pharmacist my problems and she said try two in the morning and one before lunch and evening meal. It has worked wonderfully well.
The radiologists said it is proscribed for children but not adults, my wife eventually got through to our doctor and asked if she would.prescribed windsetlers for me she did, the prescription was sent to the Tesco pharmacy and I picked up 4 boxes the next day. The radiotherapy nurse also received a message from my doctor and said that they would now tell others to get the medication from their GP's.
