Hi my name is Peter
I was having treatment for an overactive bladder with prostate blood test as part of treatment which came back at 7.7. I then had an ultrasound, GP said I had enlarged prostate but nothing of concern. Has MRI scan as part of pathway which has revealed lesions on prostate rated 4 and 5. Having a biopsy, no noted signs of other lesions throughout body. Notes 66.9% chance of prostate cancer and really worried and having bad anxiety and not sleeping, I have the constant peeing which I thought was my over active bladder no pain peeing small leaking and sometimes stop and start to finish,I've pretty much resigned myself to having prostate cancer and finding very tough to deal with like everyone with the horrible disease, any helpful advice would be much appreciated
Kind regards
Peter
Hello Safeways . It can be helpful to have a PSA test 3 months after starting HT in order to check that it is working for you. Also the rate at which the levels drop give the experts an indication of whether you are likely to have a recurrence. If you were on Active Surveillance the NICE guidelines are to have a PSA test every 3 months for the first 2 years. Once you have started radiotherapy then the guidelines are not to have a PSA test until at least 6 weeks of completing it and then to have it monitored every 6 months.

Hi ya
Had CAT scan Friday not heard anything as of yet ,when do you think I should ring urology to see when the results are due ?
Thanks
Peter
Hi Peter. I will let the people living in the UK give you a better idea of timescale. We live in Greece and have the results emailed to us within 2 days.
Hi ya
Blimey that's quick my pet scan was a week tomorrow no idea if I get a phone call or face-to-face meeting just in limbo.
Thanks
Peter
I didn't even think about that, the PSA test after 3 months was just given me as a job to do.
There was no difficulty in getting it because the consultant gave me the form at my first consultation.
When I looked, I couldn't find any guidance, other than it is customary to check after 3 months to see if the Hormone Therapy is working correctly.
Perhaps have a word with your oncologist, or urology department. You should have been given contact details.
My consultant's secretary is an angel. When I can work out how to get them to her, there will be chocolates in her life!

Changed, but not diminished.

As said know idea when or whether I'll get results by phone call or face-to-face, with suffering from anxiety and depression I'm really worried about spreading or the scan finding something else so still struggling sleeping and worried sick ,hopefully find out soon
Best wishes
Peter
