Testosterone levels while on Hormone therapy and Abiraterone

Hi !

I’ve seen posts asking of Testosterone levels when on  Hormone therapy and I thought I I could share my own results so people in this forum can compare. As I’m having my tests done in Sweden they are measured in nmol / L.

Background:

- From beginning of January 2024 to middle of July 2024 I was on Firmagon (Monthly injections)

- In mid April 2024 (two weeks after my radiation) i added Abiraterone together with Prednisolon

- At the end of July 2024 i changed from Firmagon to Orgovyx (HT pills instead of injections)

- I ONLY changed Firmagon for two reasons. 1. I had real bad reactions every time to the injection site in my belly 2. I liked the the choice of pills instead of injections. So Firmagon worked very well just to be clear Slight smile

So T-levels:

- End of January 2024 / Beginning of February 2024: T-level 0.7 nmol / L

- Mid April 2024 (before adding Abiraterone) T-level 0.7 nmol / L

- Mid July 2024 (3 month check after radiation): T-level < 0.4 nmol / L ( in Sweden they don’t measure lower)

- Mid October 2024 (3 month after changing from Firmagon to Orgovyx): T-level < 0.4 nmol / L

Even if my ’standard hormone therapy’ have done a very good job of suppressing T-levels the adding of Abiraterone really helped in suppressing the T-levels

Anyway, T-levels of 0.7 nmol / L is approx 20 ng / dL and all litterature shows that 50 ng / dL is already a good level of Testosterone level suppression and probably ’lower is even better’. Hopefully my post can help some of you in trying to interpret your Testosterone levels Slight smile

  • Hi ULIFHUB.

Good afternoon, I am very glad to hear that your Abiraterone is working very well on your Testosterone Levels and long may it last.

I haven't as yet had mine tested to date as all that they seem to be focused on is my PSA Levels over here currently.

Yes I have been on Abiraterone since day one and it has worked very well until the last 3 PSA Levels which have started to rise slowly unfortunately.

I do hope that other people on here will be able to offer you more help with this subject??

  • Hi Prostate worrier !

No, I’m very satisfied with the T level suppression I’ve had so far. I’m just posting this because I’ve seen other people in this forum having questions on there on T levels; what is good, or bad or if it’s normal. So more of a help to others to have something to compare with if needed.

Yes, Abiraterone is extremely helpful in adding to T-level suppression. Sorry to see that your PSA levels have started to rise even after hormone therapy and Abiraterone and like we’ve discussed in other posts; hopefully they can add something to the mix to push the ’Prostate cancer beast’ back again into submission.

Thanks for your respons anyway and hopes this help others if they have questions regarding T levels and how to interpret them Slight smile

  • Hi Ulifhub.

I am very happy to see that you are very satisfied with your T level supersession and thank you very much for posting your information on here for others to view.

Please don't worry about my PSA Level's as I will be seeing my consultant within a matter of weeks.

Hopefully he will have all of the scan results for us to go through??

Yes the "beast" had better look out my friend.

    Many thanks.

  • Hi Prostate worrier !

The forum and the members here share very good insights so I thought I’d do the same and hopefully somebody can benefit from it Slight smile

Sounds good and always like seeing people have plans of action and gives me hope. Yes my friend; keep on fighting the ’beast’ into a real good and long remission Slight smile

Many thanks to you as well and best wishes - Ulf

  • Hi !

Actually there are very good converters to help you out. In Sweden (and Finland were I was treated) they measure Testosterone in nmol / l.

If you look at studies, trials and etc. they normally measures in ng / dl

Most litterature says that ’good’ castration levels is about 50 ng / dl and below and when I was only on hormone therapy my T-level was 0.7 nmol / l or 20 ng / dl and then with the addition of Abiraterone my T-level measures < 0.4 nmol / l

but like I said, there are really fine converters online

  • I've seen your new psa tests ,very happy for you my friend finally things are going the right way.

  • Hi !

Sounds like you have good and positive news from having had your second opinion in Belgium and seems like they have lots of ideas on the table and that’s fantastic.

  • It's great to hear how you've adapted your treatment! I’ve also seen Balkan steroids mentioned positively in some discussions, particularly when people are looking for reliable sources for their needs. A friend of mine had a solid experience using them for muscle recovery, and they found the quality really dependable.

  • Hi !

I suppose you answered to my initial thread. Just to make sure, I, like you, respond well to Orgovyx and Abiraterone and since starting Abiraterone a year ago I measure T levels of < 0.4 nmol / l which by ”standards” is way below castrate levels.

Most of todays litterature states 50 ng / dl and below as castrate level and newer science is stating 20 ng / dl as a optimal level for castration and better efficacy. 20 ng / dl is the same as 0.7 nmol / l

So being on 0.7 nmol / l and below is definelity castrate level and like I wrote initially I measure < 0.4 nmol / l since one year ago.

Good of you to point out and hopefully this will provide other members on this forum with insights on T levels PrayGrin
