Has anyone had SABR treatment for localised prostate cancer treatment? If so, how did it go and what side effects have you had?
Is it as good an option for long time survival and ‘cure’ as surgery?
I have been offered AS, surgery or HT/RT. No mention of SABR.
Hi Andy (Andy B24 ), you don’t mention your diagnosis, but SABR I think is generally used later in zapping individual mets. Can you provide your TNM staging, Gleason and PSA. David
Best wishes, David

Hi Andy (Andy B24)
Sorry to say that with a localised Prostate Cancer the NHS will only offer AS, surgery, HT/RT or in some cases Brachytherapy.
SABR is usually only on offer in clinical trials or with private funding.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hello Andy B24
I think that there are some hospitals which might offer this in the UK. There was a lot of press coverage earlier in the year following the PACE trial which showed that 5 sessions of SBRT given on alternate days produced equivalent results to the standard 20 sessions of EBRT. I do not know how freely available it is at the moment but I have attached a link to where it might be accessed. This trial was initially for small tumours confined to the prostate but there is a larger trial -the PACE NODES TRIAL now being rolled out to include the treatment of lymph nodes in higher risk patients across many hospitals in the UK.
This is some information about the PACE NODES trial but what it does do is state which hospitals have the technology to do SBRT to the prostate.

Andy B24 thanks for putting on your stats. I guess reading from the other posts, that it isn’t generally available, but if it were to be offered you would then have an interesting decision to make. Good luck, David
Best wishes, David
