My name is John. I’m 57. PSA 5.3 in June followed by biopsy. Yesterday, Friday 19th July, I had the call that it’s cancer. Just been told I have a Gleason 4+3 and T3a, which the cold, straight talking consultant said isn’t good. I wished he’d been a little more positive. I have a CT scan booked for next Tuesday which I believe is normal following diagnosis. He said I can have either Hormone/Radiotherapy or Removal. Despite this awful news I’m trying to search for some hope and positivity hence writing this post. At this point in time I am angling towards radiotherapy but either way I’m terrified and deeply upset to be in this position. It feels deeply surreal.
Can anyone share some positive and hope. I don’t want to die. I’m only 57. It’s a difficult and painful time and I know so many people on here are also suffering.
Any words of hope or positivity would be very warmly welcome
WW What a beautiful post. I agree with every word and your garden looks superb!
Have a lovely weekend
Lots of love

Hi JPMJIG, so sorry to hear that you are struggling with dealing with your diagnosis, but pleased to see that you are taking active steps to help yourself by walking & working with a councillor. Being a member on this amazing site was a great initial step that you have already taken.
We all find our own way in dealing with the challenges life throws at us & I hope that each day will become that little bit easier to deal with.
I was diagnosed as Gleason 7 last year (4 + 3 although T2a) & chose the RT/HT route with the intention that this would be as a cure. I finished my RT last October & was on HT for 9 months with the last 3 monthly injection received in December.
Life seems very much back to how things were before my diagnosis & I'm busier now after retirement than I was when working. Keeping fit & active plays a big part in this & my fitness tracker shows that I walk around 7 miles a day on average with lots of gardening (our own, the MIL's & also a the gardens at a friends country pub).
Whilst it's still early days in the 5 year post monitoring, if it helps you in any way you can read my journey by clicking on my coffee mug icon. If you have any questions then just ask away.
All the best,
Brian
Hi
Yes his surgery went well and his 6 week post surgery PSA has come back at 0.01 which is great.
His Gleeson remained 4-+5 9
His pre op stage was T2b but is now T2c
We do not have full details as yet as got this info from nurse as our appt with surgeon is not u til next week.
I hope you are getting a little bit more on top of the anxiety but I know whilst you are still awaiting full results and treatment is the worst part and things will gradually settle down for you.
Take care
A
JPMJIG and I had a long chat on WhatsApp this morning - I think I’m safe in saying that it did him a world of good AW
Thank you so, so much my friend for taking time out of your day for me and for all the information. I actually laughed for the first time in 8 weeks. Thank you
AW, you are amazing . I bet JPMJIG feels much better having spoken to you
