HT and joint pain

Hi All.

I've been on HT for a year - degarelix for about 6 months, now Prostap and also Darolutamide tablets. I'm getting some joint pain in hands and feet, mainly at night. It was particularly bad last night in the knees and legs, making me restless.

My question is - are general painkillers the answer, anti inflammatives like ibuprofen? Should I go to the doctors and get something else prescribed?

Your experiences and thoughts are welcome!

Thanks

  • No advice really but I'd like to say I am on 3 monthly injections of Triptorelin and have recently been suffering with hip and lower back pain.
Normal over the counter painkillers don't touch it.
The GP told me to avoid Ibuprofen as I'm on anti coagulants and Ibuprofen can cause internal bleeding which wouldn't be good.
I tried codeine as I had some left over and that helped a bit but I don't like taking it for long due to the side effects.
See if you can get some cocodemol from the local chemist. The codeine dose in the over the counter is a lot less than what you can get on prescription.  It may help

  • I'd be inclined to ask your consultant or cancer nurse specialist if you have one (or GP, if they are involved in treatment, decisions which is perhaps unlikely given the drugs you are on).

It might necessitate a change to dose, type of treatment or they may just be able to give you something to control your new symptoms.

  • Good Morning

I am in the same camp here as  . I think it may well be the a reaction from your medication. A word with your Consultant or CNS should work as there are alternatives that do the same job but with different side effects.

Let us know how you get on please for future reference.

    Best wishes- Brian.
