Hi All,
AH BarryW and Eddiel all suggested that I will share Jacob journey with the RT so other people can benefit.
Quick general background: Jacob diagnosed 6 months ago with advanced PC to nodes and pelvic bones. All the details on the profile. He is on HT with Zoladex injection and Enzalutamide.
Side effects are tolerable. Fatigue and bad hot flushes. All was going well, he is active, avid swimmer and we both get lots of help from this community.
On Thursday he started the RT which is EBRT, once a week for 6 weeks, only to the primer tumor.
We have been told to follow the instructions carefully, enema 2 hours before and drink 4 glassed of water exactly 40 mins before the treatment. On the dot of 40 mins before, Jacob drink the 4 glasses in succession within 5 mins.
40 mins gone by, an hour gone by and then very politely I asked what is happening. We were told he is next. He was admitted over an hour after the 40 mins gone. 1 hour and 40 mins after drinking the water. When on the sunbed he was told his bladder is too full. Of course it is, because the time lapsed. He was told to pee into 2 cups to empty the bladder by half. So he did and had the treatment. He was told he can carry on swimming no problem there and also he can eat whatever he likes just not alcohol which he does not drink anyway. As he allowed to swim, he swam on Friday.
No problem on Thursday or Friday. This morning I woke up at 5am my usual and Jacob saying he cannot pee. So I cannot deal with anything when I wake up, need 15 mins to focus.
The next two hours were much better and with lots of water the peeing processing started to ease. Not normal but there is a slow flow.
The oncologist nurse call us back to reassure and said that only if he cannot pee or strong pain we should go to A&E.
Sorry Eddie for this long post, promise the update will be much shorter.
Lots of love to everyone
Dafna
Morning all morning June!
Just a quick update on Jacob RT. The 6 treatments done and the main side effects is fatigue and night frequency. He fight it with his regular morning swim and an afternoon nap. But still very tired.
Yesterday we have seen an oncology dietitian as all the men here know, weight is gaining massively due to HT.
Jacob was surprised to learn that is high protein, high veg intake and very low carb is wrong. The dietitian insisted to add to his 3 meals complex carb ( wholemeal rice, burgel, sweet potatoe, wholemeal bread etc.) to keep his muscles from wasting. She explain in length about the liver works etc which I will not go into it. Anyway complex carb in small amount in each meal.
Lots of love

Morning Dafna.
A relief now that Jacob has finished his radiotherapy but I didn't hear that bell ringing from here.
Many of us think that we are eating a healthy diet but the experts can help us tweak it for best results. Thanks for sharing the information and I hope it helps to shift the weight and improve body condition -which a lot of us could do with but I am am still going to have my weekly ice cream treat then go for an extra swim as the pool is up and running with a temperature of 28C.
Have a great weekend.
That's sound wonderful!
Have a great weekend to both of you.
Lots of love
Dafna
Hi Dafna, now that the RT is over you can settle back into a normal routine. Glad all went well. Good luck with the diet. I am struggling with weight on my tum (the rest looks fairly normal) but there is a fine balance. Definitely not easy to lose weight once it’s on! Holiday next week so with the best intentions, I won’t be shedding any pounds. David
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
Hi David,
Have a great holiday!
Lots of love

Hi Dafna.
Great news. So June 1st, the first day of meteorological summer AND the first day of the rest of your lives! What could be better.
Best wishes to you both and especially to Jacob to keep going with that exercise routine. Just watch out for the jellyfish!
Hi Seamus47,
Thank you so much!
How are you doing?
Lots of love
Dafna
Hi Dafna,
I'm great thanks. I had a bad bout of sciatica three weeks ago but it's almost cleared up now. My GP prescribed Amitriptyline and it worked like magic after a few days. I haven't been rowing for about six weeks but am back to walking again and managed six miles this morning in this beautiful weather.
