Hi All,

AH BarryW and Eddiel all suggested that I will share Jacob journey with the RT so other people can benefit.

Quick general background: Jacob diagnosed 6 months ago with advanced PC to nodes and pelvic bones. All the details on the profile. He is on HT with Zoladex injection and Enzalutamide.

Side effects are tolerable. Fatigue and bad hot flushes. All was going well, he is active, avid swimmer and we both get lots of help from this community.

On Thursday he started the RT which is EBRT, once a week for 6 weeks, only to the primer tumor.

We have been told to follow the instructions carefully, enema 2 hours before and drink 4 glassed of water exactly 40 mins before the treatment. On the dot of 40 mins before, Jacob drink the 4 glasses in succession  within 5 mins.

40 mins gone by, an hour gone by and then very politely I asked what is happening. We were told he is next. He was admitted over an hour after the 40 mins gone. 1 hour and 40 mins after drinking the water. When on the sunbed he was told his bladder is too full. Of course it is, because the time lapsed. He was told to pee into  2 cups to empty the bladder by half. So he did and had the treatment. He was told he can carry on swimming no problem there and also he can eat whatever he likes just not alcohol which he does not drink anyway. As he allowed to swim, he swam on Friday.

No problem on Thursday or Friday. This morning I woke up at 5am my usual and Jacob saying he cannot pee. So I cannot deal with anything when I wake up, need 15 mins to focus.

The next two hours were much better and with lots of water the peeing processing started to ease. Not normal but there is a slow flow.

The oncologist nurse call us back to reassure and said that only if he cannot pee or strong pain we should go to A&E.

Sorry Eddie for this long post, promise the update will be much shorter.

Lots of love to everyone

Dafna

  • Hi Dafna, I think your right about the fatigue, sadly Jacob will have to cope with it until RT is done, at last the urine is flowing don't want that to stop. How are you doing Daphna, your on this tough journey as well I hope your looking after yourself too. That sounds fab a walk along the beach with the person you love, my better half is in London watching shows all week, back on Monday, so I will enjoy the peace and quiet till then, take care.

    love Eddie xx

  • Thank you Eddie, I am well apart from any eye infection all is good!

    Enjoy the peace and quiet.

    Lots of love

  • Morning all and what a lovely spring morning it is here in Brighton

Just a short update. After the issues follows the first doze of RT everything is fine with Jacob. The only trouble is frequency at night but this is expected. Only two sessions left now.

    Lots of love

    Dafna

  • Good to hear all is going well….but….could you send some of your sunshine up hear, please? Currently grey and cool in the East Midlands!

don’t forget to get Jacob to ring the bell after the last session Slight smile

  • Good news Dafna. Sunny and getting very warm here although we do have some Sahara dust at the moment. Why is it that every time I clean my windows we seem to have Saharan dust and a light shower which means I have to hose everything down - there is a downside to living in Greece occasionally.

  • Thank you WW. We had such  windy few months so sun and no wind is a bless. I guess it will not stay for long. Sorry about the East Midlands!

    Lot of love

    Dafna

  • Hi AH,

Oh no, just leave the dust there, nobody looking and we will not tell!

    Have a lovely Sunday

    Lots of love

    Dafna

  • Good Morning Dafna

Great news that Jacob is sailing through the Radiotherapy - as you say the increased frequency is to be expected - but that happens as we get older too!

It's a lovely clear sunny morning here with wall to wall blue sky - expected high today of 32c ah - I am at our second home in Turkey, just a few hundred miles further east than  . We have been here just over a week with just over another 2 weeks to go and it's warming up nicely.SunglassesSunglasses.

    I love England - but the weather...........well!!

Love and Best wishes to you and Jacob - Brian.

  • Good morning Daphna, glad to hear RT is going well, I hope you and Jacob have plans for today in the sunshine. Sheila, me and friends are at the lakes for the weekend and the weather is perfect, say hi to Jacob for me, take care.

  • Morning AH, "nerd mode". Saharan dust, especially from the eastern Sahara is what fertilises the Amazon rain forest, so think of it as a positive thing when your cleaning your windows for the umpteenth time this year, It must be good for the veg,
