Hi All,

AH BarryW and Eddiel all suggested that I will share Jacob journey with the RT so other people can benefit.

Quick general background: Jacob diagnosed 6 months ago with advanced PC to nodes and pelvic bones. All the details on the profile. He is on HT with Zoladex injection and Enzalutamide.

Side effects are tolerable. Fatigue and bad hot flushes. All was going well, he is active, avid swimmer and we both get lots of help from this community.

On Thursday he started the RT which is EBRT, once a week for 6 weeks, only to the primer tumor.

We have been told to follow the instructions carefully, enema 2 hours before and drink 4 glassed of water exactly 40 mins before the treatment. On the dot of 40 mins before, Jacob drink the 4 glasses in succession  within 5 mins.

40 mins gone by, an hour gone by and then very politely I asked what is happening. We were told he is next. He was admitted over an hour after the 40 mins gone. 1 hour and 40 mins after drinking the water. When on the sunbed he was told his bladder is too full. Of course it is, because the time lapsed. He was told to pee into  2 cups to empty the bladder by half. So he did and had the treatment. He was told he can carry on swimming no problem there and also he can eat whatever he likes just not alcohol which he does not drink anyway. As he allowed to swim, he swam on Friday.

No problem on Thursday or Friday. This morning I woke up at 5am my usual and Jacob saying he cannot pee. So I cannot deal with anything when I wake up, need 15 mins to focus.

The next two hours were much better and with lots of water the peeing processing started to ease. Not normal but there is a slow flow.

The oncologist nurse call us back to reassure and said that only if he cannot pee or strong pain we should go to A&E.

Sorry Eddie for this long post, promise the update will be much shorter.

Lots of love to everyone

Dafna

  • I have just caught your post to Eddie and see that you are considering seeing a dietician. Good idea. Even though you think you are eating well it is amazing what difference just a couple of tweaks can make.

  • Thank AW. You are so spot on!

We have a lovely Sunday sunny day but yesterday it was pouring all the day. We managed to take a walk on the beach late evening in between the rain.

I hope you are both doing well?

    Lots of love

  • Hubby is doing remarkably well. His bloating has gone down considerably - have a look at yesterday's banter on the All Systems Go thread. He is almost back to normal with the diet and is able to potter about in his veg patch for longer at a time. Today is treat day so we are going out for an ice cream. All is well in this part of sunny Greece.

  • Amazing! Well deserved ice cream.

    Lots of love

  • Hi Daphna i am ok, been to Fort William for a few days to see family, and it was fab, nearly home now, then straight out for another scan, so back to normal then. best wishes to you both.

    love Eddie xx

  • Dafna, weight gain is inevitable but don’t let it get out of hand.  Make sure you check Jacob isn’t moving into diabetic territory. Been a busy week for me, moving house last week and just gone to Italy for a week.  All good on the PCa front and next checkup due in 2 months.  Best wishes David

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Good morning Daphna just wanted to offer my best wishes to you and Jacob for todays treatment, almost half way through, hope you are both doing well and enjoying the good weather, take care.

    Eddie xx

  • Hi Dafna, How did session 3 go for Jacob, I hope it went smoothly for you both, are you and Jacob enjoying the good weather and getting a nice tan, take care.

  • Hi Eddie,

The weather is amazing here in Brighton and we soon go for a walk on the beach.

The session went well and the urine streaming well. Frequency during the night is a bit of a problem. However, the fatigue is extreme. He is fighting it with sheer will power but come 1pm and he is just so very tired. Hopefully when the RT is finished in 3 weeks the fatigue will be a bit better.

I hope you and Shiela enjoying the weather as it is really nice weekend!

    Lots of love

    Dafna
