Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW  at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.

  • Many thanks  , on the scan it looked like just one bright star, so maybe my oncologist told us this, but I was in shock (even though we knew it was coming one day). Currently hoping that Xtandi will be effective and get first 3 weeks result on Monday.  Annoyingly the NHS App doesn’t give us blood results here in S England.  The Enzalutamide has really hit my stamina and increased hot flushes but other than that it doesn’t seem too bad.  David

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Hi David,

The Enzu  works a treat for attacking the PSA with Jacob so there is no reason why it should not work for you as well. True the fatigue is part of the game but I know you know how to fight it.

    Lots of love

  • Hi all. Well we are back on the rollercoaster again. The oncologist was not happy with the PSA and inflammation markers so we are being booked in for another PSMA PET scan next week and possibly more radiotherapy straight after. Hubby has developed excruciating sciatic pain so morphine patches and steroids in short term. If a single bone lesion then it will be treated immediately so another 'holiday' in Athens. Once again we were told there are more tools in the toolbox. Good news is that he thinks all the other EBRT and SBRT are doing their job but the PSMA PET will confirm this.

  • Hello

I am so sorry to read that, just when everything looked to be going so well. I send my best wishes to you both for the PSMA PET scan and hope for the best result possible.

Do keep us posted and I seriously hope your "holiday" is cancelled.(if not it's another chance to go shopping but not what you wanted).

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Hi AH, sorry to read this - an extra anxiety you certainly could have done without! Sending you lots of love and positive vibes and every hope that the scan shows there is nothing to worry about x

  • So sorry to hear that you are on a rollercoaster ride again!  Great that the PSMA PET scan is happening next week so you don't have too long to wait.

Hoping and praying that the results are the best they can be.

    Thinking of you both x

  • Oh dear  ,

I hope that they can get to the bottom of the pain and sort it out. You certainly have a great team of medics supporting you both .  Huge hugs to you both for next week .

  • Definitely a pain in the bum in more ways than one. The oncologist and we are pretty upbeat about it because the pain is very localised. We will have the results from the PSMA PET the same day, probably Thursday now. Just going through the interactions between the patches and other drugs so that I know what to keep an eye on particularly in the first 24 to 72 hours. The sooner he can come off them the better.

  • Hi AH

I hold your hand from here. Let us know the scan results.

    Lots of love

  • Take care   & OH .  Yea sometimes the side effects of the drugs are awful .

sending virtual hugs to you both
