Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW  at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.

  • Hi Brian, ( millibob)

Did anyone told you before how brilliant you are?

    Lots of love

  • And that's the beauty of this forum - we all have issues - yet 99% of us don't open up or think there's something wrong and it's only us.

Prostate Cancer affects us all and it's better to discuss our "issues" than to sweep them under the carpet - I know some are very personal but once you know it's not just you - you feel better about it.

A few months ago I was chatting to a Community member's wife about keeping clean with a catheter and casually said "and don't forget to clean under the foreskin if he's got one - there will be dirt there" A few hours later she sent me a personal message saying how relieved she felt talking to a total stranger about such intimate matters - she hadn't thought about that.

We are blokes - we keep "stuff" to ourselves - and we need to share - that's why so many men (including me) are reluctant to get a diagnosis.

We need a slogan - "Talk and get tested - losing your dignity is better than losing your life!

Right - time for a lay down - Best wishes - Brian.

  • If not Remission, giving the cancer a real run for it's money is the next best thing.

We are all behind you all the way!!!

  • I still get wrong for allegedly wetting the floor.

  • Hello Dafna (

Well not brilliant - but I think honesty here is something we need - nothing should be taboo on the forum - I am happy to share what happens in my life - because it does.

The lads who have had surgery often talk about "dribbling" or "leakage" - these things need to be talked about - it's like Hormone Therapy - I have no action in the old man - not even a twinge but I feel I can talk about it and others need to know - I do try my best but we are all dealing with a very serious subject.

Yes - I do tend to put some humour in my posts but let's face it - Prostate Cancer is (can be) life changing and we need to carry on with life.

Thanks for the ongoing care and support you and Jacob put into the Community. Heart

    Kind Regards - Brian. Thumbsup

  • Hi Brian, It's good to talk, being one of the few not to get ED, and also having a TURP means my ejaculations are completely dry, always will be, but on the plus side they are more intense and have improved our love life ,I have found when doing talks about prostate cancer and ED in particular, if most of the listeners are women or partners, "we are inclusive on here" talking about it grabs their attention so much more than it does the guys, though as we are finding having a diagnosis changes this. So if i am talking to mostly guys, unless asked, ED is not mentioned as i believe from talking to many people, it discourages the guys from getting tested

  • ,For anyone with an interest in the subject of "Sex anf Cancer" there's a cracking thread on the general Cancer Chat Forum where Community Members (including      and me) have shared our feelings - here's the link-

Sex and cancer - Let's talk

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Well, we have just got back from the urologist who has done the 3 monthly Prostap injection plus inspected the wobbly willy and what is left of the other bits. He also does a routine ultrasound and has confirmed that hubby is not pregnant but he should keep trying. When hubby said that his stomach was shrinking the response was that there is still plenty there, oh dear. The good news is that there appears to be shrinking of the lymph nodes and distant mets thanks to the SBRT, and that everything is going in the right direction. Also the EBRT did such a good job on the prostate and pelvic lymph nodes that he recommends 6 monthly MRI'S in this area now, but maintain 3 monthly ones in the upper abdomen which was treated with the SBRT, although he is also optimistic that it will have worked judging by the ultrasound. Off out tonight to celebrate.

  • Off out tonight to celebrate.

I can't fault you. I hope you both have a cracking time.

You just can't not celebrate good news and indeed that's Good News.

    Kind Regards - Brian
