Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.
Of course, we can’t because of the insurance issues :(
As you know we have a place in Turkey so we were not for giving that up. Having taken advice from the Travel Insurance thread - we telephoned various insurance companies (if you fill in the online form the algorithms are all the same and after an hour of form filling it tells you to ring for a quote!).
We need annual worldwide cover as our place in Turkey is in Asia. We are both type 2 diabetic (Lorraine insulin controlled) and she's had two attacks of geon-barre syndrome (not nice!!).
The first year it was £1800+, after my radiotherapy it's dropped to £ 780. I am going to see what my next PSA results are now as technically I am not on treatment - this might reduce it more. For our joint conditions I think it's a fair premium.
We are back off to the from March 11 - 30
and boy am I ready for it!!!!
Kind Regards - Brian x

Sorry - you can’t go on those dates as you won’t be here to wish me a happy birthday !!!
yeah, I spent all day yesterday ringing around or looking on line for travel insurance - quotes ranged from just under £500 to over £5000! Yeah five thousand!!!
how can they justify this?
we’ve always had annual cover but we have been finding we have more times when we are ‘off cover’ due to exclusions that we are considering just single trip insurance as and when we have ‘less to declare’!!!!
Can you recommend any travel insurance companies that are willing to insure a patient with a terminal mesothelioma please?
Hi DonnaS
I'm not sure about mesothelioma specifically, but you could have a look at Travel insurance forum for cancer patients to get some ideas of companies that could help.
In my case with PC, I found Insurewith very competitive & helpful when I rang them.
Best Wishes
Brian

Morning DonnaS
We recently used InsuranceWith. Their quote was less than a third of other companies but as Brian suggested, give them a call do not try it online.
Lots of love

Donna, we are covered with a company called "Insureme4" through a search engine called 'payingtoomuch.com'.
This was done through the Martin Lewis TV show (get the emails every week).
Last year's was £290, this year's £480 worldwide with cruise travel for 12 months for 2 of us.
Tons of pre-existing conditions, that's what takes so long getting quotes.
Hope you get sorted.

We have just been trying to get a quote for a single trip insurance. This is because our bank has changed the way it operates its insurance. The online quotes we received ranged from about £400 to over £5000. It pays to shop around! I’m never comfortable with the online medical screening because not every illness fits neatly into an insurance algorithm. Much better to talk to a real person!
Hi Steve,
Well, I contacted payingtoomuch and they cannot recommend anyone with terminal cancer. They travel insure many conditions plus cancer but not terminal prognosis. So for us it is insurancewith.
Lots of love

WW, Give the paying too much a try, yes it is annoying having to go through all of the pre-existing conditions all the time.
I am the opposite to you, I prefer doing it online, as I am still anxious speaking with someone who I don't know.
