Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW  at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.

  • Thank you

we both feel we go from one blood test to the next but I hope things will settle down if everything is ok in March . Hope all is good with you and yours

  • Liz & OH, things WILL settle down for you both!!!

Does your OH still have any fatigue from his Radiotherapy treatment?  If so, it won't last.

The only troubles I have at the moment is the anti social behaviour from the neighbours.  It's causing both of us a lot of stress and anxiety!

  • Good morning  ,

He is on a mission since 1st March . Doing his walking every morning and gym early afternoon at least 3 times a week as he feels less tired afterwards .  He missed last weeks so it was a bit of a struggle getting up yesterday for his walk.

if he wants to scuba dive he needs to build up his muscles so for him it’s important which is fine. It gives him focus and something to look forward too.

today he’s done his walking , he’s now away to his man hut to check out our tumble dryer as it’s on strike. January it was the oven so wonder what next !!!

OH with his retired works hat on . Contact your local community police officer and ask for a meeting . If you’ve already done that ask for his Inspector.  Keep a log of all the issues and photographic evidence if you can.  As it’s impacting in your quality of life

You can also go down the route of speaking to your councillor / MP as they do have powers as well .  Nothing worse as we’ve had it in the past and it wears you down.

Take care & hugs to you both

  • Liz, the community plod is no good!  He asked for CCTV, we got it and supplied him with evidence... You sometimes wonder why you bother.

As for the MP and local councillors... we'll they are Labour!!  We even tried the Mayor.

I'd contact Donald Trump if it would help.

    Thanks for the hugs!

  • Interesting meeting with the GG today and we have a plan. Firstly the hospital reports indicate that the pulmonary embolism started as a deep vein clot in the femur and then decided to break up and lodge in many places in the lungs. We are going to get hubby stable on the anticoagulants before chemotherapy with Docetaxel at a lower dose will start, so regular blood tests first to sort out the anticoagulant dose. Once chemotherapy starts the mets will be monitored and if they behave themselves then Docetaxel will continue. If they don't then they will try a platinum based chemotherapy. If that doesn't work then he wants to try immunotherapy with Pembrolizumab (something for me to look up). At the same time he is looking to take hubby off Prostap and putting him onto the oral Relugolix as this can, apparently, have benefit. Cabazitaxel chemotherapy will be left for further down the line, as is Lutetium 177 but this might not be an option now due to the PE. Ultimately quality of life will determine how we proceed.

  • Hello

Well the good news is they know all about the PE and that's under control. The next bit of good news is that you have a great team and a plan.

I can understand the take it slow and let's see how it goes too.

He's going to need some "looking after and TLC" in the next few months so make sure you have time for yourself too,

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Linda,  mainly good news in that you have a plan and can start working towards it.  Your team seem to be thinking holistically which is really what you need.  Still more tools to go!

Are you needing to go away for the chemo or can you stay at home?  Let us know how you get on and wish Peter all the best.  Take care.  David

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • This time we should be able to have the chemotherapy at our local town which is only an hours drive away. Our oncologist was instrumental in setting up a local facility last year as he knew what effects having to drive 3/4 hours away had on the family. We are lucky that our village has a microbiology lab for all the blood tests.

  • Hi AH,

A detailed plan which looks practical and encouraging with a view to adjust. This sound really good. How does Peter feel with his breathing now? and is the pain gone completely?

    Lots of love

    Dafna

  • Breathing has definitely improved and he no longer has the chest tightness. Interestingly his ECG, Oxygen levels, blood pressure was normal and is not how a pulmonary embolism normally presents - it was only the expertise of the GP who ordered the blood tests which pinpoined what the problem was as his D-Dimers test was in the thousands.

The problem with a PE is that you cannot take normal painkillers except for paracetamol so we will be doing the job with Fentanyl patches and low level steroids but the steroids are upsetting the glucose levels. Since going onto this regime, plus the radiotherapy, the pain levels have dropped considerably. His osteopath is going to have to take into account the PE plus the sites where the radiotherapy targeted.
