Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW  at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.

  • The first radiotherapy session went well so 1 down and 4 to go. He has to have blood tests today before the next session so it is a juggling act of drugs to be taken before breakfast, others after breakfast. Then drugs after lunch, sleep, radiotherapy at 16:00, food before more drugs at 18:00, RELAX, final drugs before bedtime. Luckily we are in an apartment which is close enough to be able to walk to the hospital and there is a shopping mall next door to it for the food top up.

The radiotherapy is only the first round. We still have to sort out what the systemic treatment is and when for the other mets.

  • Hi

I’m so sorry this has all kicked off again that’s so frustrating . It sounds like the treatment will be excellent for your husband though and they seem so fast at getting things done in Greece. Hope it goes well, it feels like your husband is blazing a trail, tough as old boots by the sounds of it too. Thank you for always keeping us in the loop, we travel with you with much love and respect

  • Good morning Lorraine. I think it can be useful for others to know the good, the bad and the ugly of this disease because some, like my husband, have an aggressive form which means more frequent progressions. Yes there are days when he gets to the point of 'Just leave me alone' but then we sit on our top terrace looking over the canopy of olive trees to the sea in one direction and the mountains behind us and all becomes well with the world so the fight carries on.

  • Hi AH,

First lest deal with the important things the lacy bits. What ?? I do not use these for the last so many years...only Bridget Johns sensible ones! I admire you for that!

But the most important of all is your fight carry on. As the all said here we give you hugs from the mother land and hopefully this time it will be more successful than last April. You are both so very strong, do not take this for granted.

    Lots of love

    Dafna

  • Thanks Dafna.

Thank goodness for a large M&S store in Athens (other stores are available) which had a good selection on offer this time.

The radiotherapy last April was, and remains successful. It's just that more blighters have popped up elsewhere.

I have just caught your post that Jacob's latest test looks good - HOORAY but sorry that you have the dreaded lurgy - get well soon.

    Big hugs to you both.

  • Oh Dafna

On a wet damp morning that made me chuckle !!! JoyJoyJoy.

The older I get the bigger the underwear - on washing days our washing line is like a galleon in full sail SailboatSailboatSailboat.

    Thanks for making my morning

    Kind Regards - Brian xx

  • Hello AH, sorry to hear that you are back in Athens for more treatment for your husband. I hope it all goes well. It sounds very much as if you have both worked out the best routine - glad though that you have time to seek out some ‘lacy bits’.

i have to say that I’m amazed by the standard of care he is getting over there in Greece - it all sounds so much better and so more efficient than what we get here.

i send you both big hugs and my very best wishes for a smooth passage through this round of treatment xxx

  • Hi,  very sorry to hear about the multiple mets but the speed of treatment is amazing.  I am waiting to start SABR next week and hoping no more little bas***ds have arrived in the meantime.  David

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Fantastic to hear that the areas treated in 2020 and 2024 are stable and praying that these new sessions zap the blighters into oblivion!

Your medical team are amazing and I am sure that they will have a plan to blast the systemic cells soon.

Hat off to you on the lacybits ... much too like dental floss for me!!
