Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW  at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.

  • Happy Days - All is well - treatment going fine - retail therapy expensive - old fa*t enjoying his parking.

Ah what a wonderful world - it would be if none of us needed this forum !!

Glad you are both enjoying the "holiday" and all is going to plan.

Kindest Regards - Brian Sweat smile

  • Brian, the big downside if nobody needed this forum is we would never have known eachother (albeit online).

This forum is one of the best things to come out of my Cancer journey.  I am a better person because of it.

We all love it, that's why it was voted the best.  It is a privilege to connect with you all!

  • Very true Steve.

3 down 2 to go. Hubby is still nauseous for a couple of hours after the session but is not vomiting. Fatigue has really hit him now so just going to stay around the 'holiday home'. Luckily we can walk round the garden and sit on the terrace. The owners have started leaving food presents on the outside table (a very Greek thing called Filoxenia - welcome to a stranger). Can't wait to get home next Thursday.

  • Steve

You are so right - in my time on the forum - and thanks to some of the training I have done - I think I have become a better human being. I have become more emphatic, I now listen and am more attentive and have much more time for others.

I understand there are people worse off than me (I see it more when I am away from here on other forums) and in the 28 months of my journey I am thankful for still being here. it's made me realise there is a lot more to life. It's also brought me and Lorraine (Mrs Milibob) closer and I thought we were close - 45 years married next month.!!

    As you say Steve

It is a privilege to connect with you all!

    And you are so right!!

    Kind regards - Brian.

  • Glad it's going - almost well. At his age and with the change in routine and the treatment I would say he's doing great. He's the weekend to recover now I assume before the next fraction?

  • Thanks Brian. He is doing well but it is not pleasant seeing him suffer. Next, and last two sessions are on Monday and Wednesday.

  • Over half way there & next Thursday will come around before you know it.  Hope you both have a relaxing weekend & enjoy a little 'me' time.

  • Hi AH,

Take a deep breath. Next week this time you will be at home and hopefully the suffering will be over and the results will be good!

Have a good restful weekend both of you!

  • Hi Steve and Brian couldn't agree more, the community is an amazing place full of amazing people, who despite having a serious diagnosis  and often difficulties with day to day life still reach out to support others affected by this horrible disease, I think the only regret we have about the community is not finding it sooner, though had a meeting yesterday about metastatic cancer with 2 people from a local university, well known and respected for it's work with cancer,, 2 counsellors and a friend with metastatic cancer, "she's a friend now", about setting up facilities to support our physical, emotional and dietary needs,, And the lack of support after diagnosis my new friend and i received came up, much to the surprise of the others. I talked about the community and all the good things it does and how much it has helped me and thousands of others, and how it could benefit so many more if only they knew about it, As the two from Uni are also part of active together a Yorkshire area exercise for cancer patients program, they have a relationship with most local hospitals and are going to hopefully find a way that everyone who gets a cancer diagnosis is given information about the community, fingers crossed.

    Eddie

  • Hi   Eddie - I am working with a group of volunteers and some Macmillan staff on a project to ensure everyone who receives a cancer diagnosis knows not only where the online Community is but where they stand and how to understand where they are and the journey ahead. It will be produced by people who have "been there - done that".

It's taking some time but there are lots to consider and so many formats it needs to be produced in - however I am sure when we have finished off the project it will be just what we need - watch this space!!

    Best wishes - Brian.
