Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW  at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.

  • I know if that had been me, I would have been in the doghouse (if we had a dog).

At least you got all your lacy bits.

How is he doing?  And, how are you doing?

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • He definitely needs a big kennel at the moment. 2nd session due this afternoon at 17:45 and hopefully the antiemetics will do the trick. He was due a dose when we got back to base (locked inside) so I had to dash out on foot to get some more at the pharmacy -1.5km round trip, plus buy him lunch. So far I have done over 12000 steps today and I have still got to walk to the hospital.

Having a cottage as a base, with a garden, has been a great bonus as we are both more relaxed. I can sit and have a read on the veranda during his afternoon siesta and the cottage is so well equipped that cooking is no problem.

Being able to let it all out on the forum is keeping me sane, so a bit thanks to everyone.

  • Hope this afternoon's session goes well.

Just think, you will also have nice weather to go with the cottage and garden.

You should both return when things have calmed down so you can both enjoy it together.

The forum is good for letting it all out!

Thanks to you for keeping us updated.

  • Good to know all is well, I too find the forums relaxing and rewarding  and funny as well, I talk to the moderators from time to time. Meg gave me some great advice on treatment for my memory issues. PS I didn't know you represented politicians, take care,

  • Hi Steve if you put aurora wellbeing Worksop - the team you might recognise her

  • Yesterdays session went well. Arrived early and he went straight in as the machine was empty. Only slight nausea this time and ok if he lay still for a couple of hours, so an early night. This morning all is well with the world and his comments were - if that is the worst of the side effects then he will see the course through. He has some stuff for constipation so hopefully All Systems Go.

Even the bill for treatment which was presented yesterday wasn't that painful - wait until he sees the bill for the lacy bits.

  • Morning AH

And a good morning it is for both of you with minimal side effects. Great news!

    2 down 3 to go

    Lots of hugs

  • You could always say that the lacy bits are an important part of the treatment.

    Glad yesterday's session went well.

  • Sounds like you are both doing well.  Great news and nearly half way through. Best wishes. David

    Best wishes, David
