Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW  at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.

  • Hello Steve (

We are in Ocacik about 5k from Oludeniz on a small plateau at the foot of Babadag Mountain (where the world paragliding championships are held). From our back balcony we look out at the mountain and watched it snow today!!

Rain down where we are but back to normal tomorrow and warming up.

Happy days - Back to the Raki SunglassesWine glass

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi AH, lovely to hear so much good news for hubby and you, we are back at the Scilly's, on Tresco overlooking Bryher island, just finished having lunch on the beach, watching the sun go down.

We're here for a wedding, not mine, my auntie's, and we just found out today, her wife to be has family links to Bryher as well and will be having the affirmation service there at the weekend, my best wishes for next week.

  • Lovely photo Eddie  . Hubby has relatives who live on Bryher for generations - its a small world.

  •   I bet it's not too warm there.  Photo is beautiful!

Never ventured to the Scilly Isles before, how difficult is it to get there?

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • We flew from Newquay, but flights from Exeter and Penzance. Also there used to be a ferry from Penzance but this was 20+ years ago so things may have changed since then.

  • Steve, we only arrived around mid-day today, it was 16C, and was still 12C at sunset where it will stop all night, and with no cold wind, felt perfect, and the sea's always warm, so will be going for a swim in the mornings.

There are 3 main ways to get there, PS you can't take your car onto the islands, you don't need it anyway. The ferry from Penzance. A helicopter from Penzance, or flying from Exeter, which we prefer as you can get to the Scilly's in 6½ hours, from Doncaster.

  • Thanks L, I know, that's why I mentioned it, and as Bryher has a very small population, this time on Friday we could be related, a very small world lol.

  • A good friend of my goes to the Scilly's regularly.

She goes to Penzance by the overnight sleeper, gets off the train and walks onto the ferry. I've been to Penzance and it's only a couple of hundred yards.

Gets off in St Mary's, which is her favourite place anyway.

The only trouble she finds is raising the willpower to come back.

    Changed, but not diminished.
  • Hi Steve, I've only been 3 times, but all in the last 6 months, we went by train and the ferry the first time and it took a long time, our return had to be by helicopter and via London to get home the same day, we are very lucky to have a friend who lives on St Mary's and we can house swap, under different circumstances, I would consider moving there.

  •    never in a million years would I have thought of Penzance.

Penzance has always been on my 'to do' list of places to visit.
