Hi everybody last on here 3 weeks ago just before my biopsy for advice and a thank you for all the comments they really helped prepare for it .
Today was results day I was prepared as the nurse at the biopsy told me it was very likely cancer
well he was not wrong and have been given a Gleason score of 4+3. 7 T3a not what I wanted to hear .
Now booked in for bone,ct scan next week and referred to Derriford for surgery as the consultant advised it’s the best option for my age 64 . From my research so far I agree with him as I just feel I want it gone .
Now the waiting goes on just hoping I can get my head round this and anxiety levels go down .
This is one forum that I was hoping to leave but looks like I here for the duration now
Thanks everybody
Hello Timmy2 -Not what you wanted - - - but welcome back.
I assume you are aware you have options - but if you "want it gone" then so be it. - There are plenty of good folk on here who have been there - done that and I am sure they will be happy to answer any questions you have.
Feel free to ask whatever you wish - you know us - happy to help.
I hope it goes well for you - keep us posted.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Timmy and sorry to hear
Just remind us of your PSA.
Always difficult T3a, because just escaped the gland but hopefully/probably nowhere else. Sometimes I would say go for HT and RT to mop up any stray cancer cells that surgery may not get.
But if u want to get rid of I understand that although don't forget it can still return (obviously hopefully not) but at least if it does u can still have RT which is fairly easy after Surgery but not the other way round ie Surgery after RT.
This is just my opinion and doesn't mean its right.
Good luck
Steve
Hi Timmy. Your Gleason is the same as mine although I’m a bit further down the road having had a prostatectomy just over a week ago. Once you’ve had your additional scans you will be in a better position to consider the options available to you. It’s the waiting that drains you, I know but you’re in the best position to get it sorted. I found it useful to meet with both a surgeon and an oncologist to get a balanced view. There are definite pros and cons with both options and it may be helpful to be aware of these. Good luck with your scans.
Hello Timmy, we all react to a cancer diagnosis but it sounds as if appointments etc are happening in a timely manner for you. I know it’s not the results you wanted to hear but bear in mind that cure/ treatment are much improved and very affective. I hope all goes well with the scans and you can make the right decision for yourself after being given all the info you need. Best of luck!
so, really not too bad, chances are just escaped the gland and nowhere else
so, back to my previous post, surgery or RT choice is yours, make sure you get offered the choice as long as u don't have existing bowel or urinary issues as regards the RT
all the best
Steve
