Hi All,

First two months of HT treatment, husband PSA an testosterone dropped nicely and today it went up a little instead of carry on dropping. This is only the start of journey for us so I expected further falls and not upwards ( even little, testosterone from 1 to 2 and PSA from 0.52 to 0.54) I know it is not much increase but the direction is not the right one.

Anyone experience similar issue at the start of the journey ( 3 months)

  • So, do you have to pay for the part the nhs won’t cover? Is this under the EHIC scheme? It sounds ‘interesting’ ! I still do some work involved with NhS policy etc

  • Yes, we contribute but it is not under the EHIC scheme. As a pensioner, and because we are permanent residents in Greece, we are covered by the S1 system whereby the UK pay a fixed amount each year to the Greek Social Security System which entitles us to reciprocal health equivalent to a Greek person. The UK is still our competent state for issuing what I think is now the GHIC so that if we travel abroad, outside of Greece, and need medical care then the UK would pay up in the same way as it would for a UK resident. The GHIC would not cover anyone using private health facilities in any country unless it was the only option available. We can also return to the UK for medical treatment if we choose to. Brexit changed the rules for those retiring abroad after the cut off date in that I don't think they can return to the UK for healthcare once they have obtained permanent residency in a European country. For those not covered by the S1, then it is a requirement of getting a permanent resident card that you have private medical insurance over a specified value.

  • Hi Ah,

Oh brilliant. Have a great weekend!
