Morning all,

So after 5 weeks of no side effects which I thought at least we are lucky with that, the night sweat arrived. Husband is not the complaining type but he is suffering. I know Millibob mentioned before sage tablets. Any information and advise will help.

Many thanks

Best wishes

Dafna

  • Hi Dafna,

I took 1000mg of Evening Primrose Oil and 275mg Sage Leaf twice a day (both available online from Holland and Barrett). I cut them down to once a day after about a year. I also took an homeopathic remedy of Sepia occasionally. My GP was a registered Homeopath and prescribed them for me.

There's also Cyproterone Acetate and Provera which you could get on prescription from your GP, but be aware that both of these are contra-indicated for diabetics and can cause a rise in HbA1C. This can push non-diabetics into Type 2 unless you take good care with diet and exercise.

    I hope that helps.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift.

  • Good Morning

I swear by Holland & Barrett (other suppliers are no doubt just as good and cheaper) Menoforce Tablets. They have stopped my sweats.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Morning Dafna, I went on medication for mine as mine were happening over 20 times a day, i took medroxyprogesterone which stopped mine in less than a week, take care, Eddie

  • Hi Dafna,

I tried the Sage tablets that Millibob suggested (Menoforce) after I was hit with hot flushes & found they were a big help.  Whilst they didn't completely stop, they were a lot less frequent & intense  so most of the time I didn't even notice I was having them.

    Best wishes,

    Brian

  • Do they work for Night Sweats as well . Mine have got a lot better recently but I still suffer from them

  • Hi  &

They have cured me and I haven't had one in 15 months - and I needed a towel in bed some nights.

But - we are all individuals and react differently..

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Skippy,

Yes, I found they helped with those as well.  I also find having a window open letting fresh air in is also good even though I'm still tucked up under the duvet.  Rather than waking up in a sweat & having to throw the duvet off, I seem to be sleeping through it by automatically putting my arms out into the cooler air.

Must admit, I find the sound of pouring rain / wind very relaxing anyway & we seem to be getting plenty of that at the moment.

  • Evening Dafna and Skippy.

We can't get sage tablets but 1 -2 cups of sage tea is working well for hubby, plus it is caffeine free and doesn't taste bad. Living in a hot country cotton or linen bedlinen are a must. Keep nightwear to a minimum and again made of cotton, linen or silk if you wear it. Get a cooling pillow as this wicks heat away from the head. Put a cold water bottle under the pillow so that if he / you turn it in the night it will feel cool. We have to have a waterproof mattress protector which can feel warm to sleep on so I put a good quality normal one on top of it.

    Have a great evening.
