Hi Guys
Diagnoses
Gleason 6 Psa 2.7 PSA to date 3.1 third time that it has been creeipng up. On Active surveillance
Just had my Three monthly chat with my nurse she says nothing to worry about with the PSA levels at the moment.
I asked her about when this years MRI scan would be and was told as the PSA level is low there would be no MRI scan untill Dec 2024.
I though MRI scans were done yearly. Should I insist on a yearly MRI scan. Two years is a long time to wait for a scan when PSA Tests are Not that reliable.
Any advice would help
Thanks
Les
Hello Les, I think the answer to this is very dependent on your age and any family history of prostate cancer
HI les
your stats are low and seem to remain low.
If PSA rising as with myself then yearly prob best.
In your case 2 yr prob ok if PSA doesn't start rising. How about a compromise and go for 18 months if they agree.
u can push for 12 months but they may not agree obviously.
would be interesting to know the lesion size in mm, if under about 6-8 mm prob not much to worry abou
regards
Steve
Great question. My husband is currently having chemo and when I asked the oncologist when he would have a scan i.e bone, MRI or pet scan he replied that he wouldn't and that it would only be a PSA test. I am currently looking into this as I cannot understand how a PSA test can show if a tumor is shrinking. Will keep you all posted
