Decision made. I’m pT3a, N0 M0 (see my profile for details ). My extensive research points to a combo treatment of HT / RT / Brachy (NHS and NICE approved). MDT met again a couple of days ago and their recommendation (without my input) was the same. I had a consultation at Addenbrookes yesterday with a top prostatectomy surgeon and he agreed with me that my decision was the best one, as surgery would carry at least a 30% chance of recurrence. So I collected my prescription on way out! I took my first bicalutamide tablet taken this morning…..so the treatment is underway. Just over 62 days (NHS target) since GP referral so well done to them after a thorough diagnosis. I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders with regards to timelines (chasing the NHS, politely!), but I’m under no illusion that the next few months of treatment will present challenges. My wife and I are a strong team and we intend to take everything in our stride and, hopefully, this curative pathway will prevail. Here we go…..wish us luck!
Hi All
Yes - sh*t happens, just when you are not expecting it - I am in a much better place now however I do realise how lucky I am to have the support of my wife, family and the the online Community so thanks again.
I am back in dear old Oldham and it's windy this morning with rain forecast for later - I am going to have a walk out this afternoon for a couple of pints before my first "fat club" on Wednesday where I am told we will be doing 2 hours of "light exercise" building up to "moderate"
as the weeks progress. (I haven't told them I am back in Turkey for almost 4 weeks in 5 weeks time and kebabs will be back on the menu!!).
Hormone Therapy - only 9 months (one more 6 month injection to go) but as my oncologist said "Curative Pathway" and those two words are music to my ears!!
So thanks again - normal service is resumed!! .
Kind Regards to all - Brian.

Hi Millibob
Sorry to hear you have had a bit of a wobble.
I have to say that I have been grateful for your comments and support. You are a stalwart on this site.
It must be difficult to be the positive strong man all the time, when you are going through the process yourself, and particularly the side effects of HT.
Hopefully, you are over the other side of this bump in the road.
Best wishes going forward.
Dedalus
Thanks Dedalus - These things happen, it's a combination of things and the long term HT isn't helping - however we are good to go now, thanks - back to (almost) normal.
Thanks for your good wishes - Brian.

Hi Eddie - Strange to say I am human like everyone else and this week a combination of events - well caught up with me!!
Hormone Therapy works- it stops the cancer from growing but it plays hell with your mind and body and 27 months in I have had enough! However I have another 9 months to go so having repeated my two "magic words" - Curative Pathway - I am back on track.
Thanks for your message - I know you are not on the same pathway and I have a great deal of respect for all of you who are not - I fully understand the significance of your own diagnosis and if it wasn't for the staff when I was admitted to hospital - I might well be have been on a similar journey to you - I am a "lucky boy" and I now appreciate where I am.
Thanks again Eddie - My best wishes to you and your family - Brian.

Thank you Brian, I am lucky my crappy "days" are minutes, probably due to my many brushes with death over the years, though nothing hurts like losing family, I am 7 down and 7 to go regarding HT and again I am lucky with side effects bar the occasional dribble and memory lapse, and no ED as well, and more luck with my RT results and extended prognosis not to mention how well i feel physically, so well that Sheila and me are thinking of getting married, maybe in Australia. take care.
Eddie
Hi Brian,
Millibob I hope this message finds you with a bit of comfort amidst the challenges you're facing. I wanted to take a moment to extend my deepest sympathies for your loss. Losing a family member is undoubtedly one of life's toughest trials, and my heart goes out to you during this difficult time.
I also want to commend you for your resilience in the face of your health journey. It's clear that you've encountered some tough moments with the side effects of your treatment, but your determination shines through. Your dedication to sticking to the plan, despite the obstacles, is truly inspiring.
Remember, every step you take brings you closer to your goal. Your strength and positivity not only uplift you but also serve as a beacon of hope for others facing similar challenges. Your presence and support on this site have made a significant difference in the lives of many, and for that, we are truly grateful.
Keep pushing forward, Brian. Your courage and perseverance are remarkable, and I have no doubt that brighter days are ahead. Take care of yourself and know that you have a community here cheering you on every step of the way.
With warm regards

Having a terminal diagnosis makes us do something about putting our house in order, particularly as far as inheritance is concerned. I look forward to hearing that your thoughts are put into action and Sheila becomes Mrs Eddie.
Glad things are going better for you this year and long may it continue.
Hi Eddie,
Thank you for inspirational post, looking on the half full glass! And planning a wedding, brilliant!
Lots of love
Dafna
