Hi Fellow friends of a particular group
I just want to tell the story of my 5 stage radiotherapy treatment to those who might go through similar in the future.
Day 1 straightforward on bed up 10 times at night for a wee
Day2 as above
Day 3 in penile pain all night rang 111 and told to go to A&E. 4 hours waiting without seeing anyone and feeling better discharged myself
Day 4 Told radio therapist about previous night they were very attentive and sent me to oncology where they took blood temperature pulse rate and urine. Everything ok although I had lost bladder control just before therapy session. Took night Nurse at night and up about 7 times but slept well.
Day 5 Last radiotherapy session saw chief radiologist and he discussed my problems and gave me good advice on moving forward.
Since the treatment I have needed to be near a toilet and up frequently at night. Had one accident wet myself in car driving home from Darlington to Newcastle 30 minutes into journey.
Today Tuesday only up 4 times in night and feeling positive about recovery.
May go back to work tomorrow.
Regards

Hello Sweetstory
Thanks for posting. Is this the "High Energy Proton Beam Job"? The one you can have at UCL London and Christies Manchester? Or is there now somewhere else in the North East?
I am not up to speed with "stuff" so correct me if I am wrong. Two questions:
1. Don''t answer if you don't want but what were your "peeing habits" like before the treatment started.
2. You say you are ready for work now - so apart from during the treatment there are no lasting side effects.
It would be great if you could enlighten me and my fellow sufferers.
Thanks - Brian.

Hi Brian
Yes it will be the high energy proton beam. It is available at the Freeman Newcastle.
I would be peeing around twice during the night beforehand.
It is still early days but apart from needing to be near a toilet. I haven’t felt any side effects, have cut the grass and kept on top of household chores.
I am a sixth form teacher so feel I can go back to school, as I can rush out to toilet if I need.
Will let you know if anything changes.

Aw Thanks for Posting.
In the last week we have had so many positive posts - It almost feels like between us we are winning.
I am so pleased it worked for you.
Personally I would rather have my biopsy again than stand up in front of some sixth formers - one of my daughters is a teacher - you deserve every penny.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Brian
Putting work back to Monday, decided it’s probably for the best.
Remember all those who are going to go through 5 fractions it was not a breeze for me but I am improving by the day.
