Five months since RT completed, still on HT and I've just had 3 light bleeds into my urine over 7 days - not bad but a bit worrying. Any advice, please?
Hello Andy.
You are obviously worried but occasional intermittent light bleeding can occur several weeks after the initiation of RT and should resolve itself over the next few months. If you are concerned why not ask a Macmillan nurse for advice or check it out with your urologist. I am sure some men will relate their experiences and hopefully reassure you. If the bleeding becomes heavier and more persistent, your urine habits alter or if you feel unwell then seek medical attention. You have done right to raise the issue and well done for monitoring yourself.
Thanks for your reply which certainly does help - I realise I'm feeling down at the moment, but the bleeding hasn't helped to regain my 'fighting spirit' and I'm rather depressed after apparently doing so well so far...
Your body has been through a lot in the last few months, not helped by the HT and of course your PCa diagnosis. Recognizing that you are feeling depressed starts the journey of processing and dealing with it. Do you have a Maggie's centre or Prostate Cancer group near you and do you feel you could open up to someone either on a one to one or in a group environment. Talking to someone anonymous is often easier than to a friend. Your feelings are natural, you are human and allowed to have them.
Hello Andy. If this is a new bleed I would advise you to seek medical advice - possibly dropping a urine sample into your surgery so one of the nurses can dip stick it? It could be nothing but it could be something .

I've now had a cystoscopy which showed nothing apart from a small area of redness at the TURP site (11 gm removed from a 33gm prostate...). No action taken, but have got to keep an eye out for continuous/new bleeds for the next 9 months, or so, and let the Urology Dept know if the problem gets any worse
