Hi gang I’ve been a bit busy recently deciding on my life plan but here’s a update T2 Gleston 3/4 psa 52 Been on Hormone Therapy now two months no side effects apart from hot flushes . Originally offered surgery after many theory’s decided not for me so HT RT saw consulate last week now booking for Brachtheorpy followed by 20 sessions of Radiotherapy and looking for this to cure the bugger . Well that’s what they say . Forgot to say NOMO on diagnostics it’s been a long 6 months since first consultation but here we go . Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here for your positive advice and help and to everyone starting the journey good luck stay positive always remember to include the partner in all decisions finally don’t get a diagnosis and start planning your funeral it’s not about that there’s treatments for everything and absolutely everyone of us believe me .
Hi mustardo. Totally agree with you. Back in April at diagnosis all I could see was no future together and everything felt bad, but I have moved in from that, mainly thanks to all the lovely people on here telling me things would get and feel better. Husbands results aren't the best but as you say new things are coming out all the time. I do lots of research for the latest treatments and then ask the oncologist about it and our appointment. I don't think he appreciates this, but tough luck I only want the best for my husband. Good luck with your journey
Hi Mustardo
I love to see positive posts - you are so right
don’t get a diagnosis and start planning your funeral it’s not about that there’s treatments for everything and absolutely everyone of us believe me .
That's so true and so is this
stay positive always remember to include the partner in all decisions
We should all take a leaf out of your book.
I hope the HT/RT goes well - get some Sage Tablets for those hot flushes and keep up with the exercise - fatigue is on it's way. From what I have read Brachy is great but not available everywhere.
Great post - thank you - stay positive and keep posting.
Best wishes
Brian.

Indeed unfortunately I began the journey thinking it was my problem and absolutely forgot about my lovley wife who it also affects. Once I let her in she has been my rock tracking case studies and yes like you given the consult other ideas it was because of this we moved from surgery to HT RT and even at last weeks meeting without her intervention I would not have been offered Brachytherapy or the hydrogel to protect other areas . Unfortunately you do have to ask they won’t offer it . Good luck the road is long and I’m expecting lots of downs some ups and thanks to this group there’s always positives.
Good luck on your journey. A friend had brachytherapy several years ago and has been clear ever since, so living life to the full that it is difficult to keep up with him. He jokes the HT brought out the feminine side of him but was glad when he could stop it.
Us wives and partners are glad to get involved as it gives us something to concentrate on to try and help our loved ones so all credit to your wife in helping make your joint decision. Personally it has made our relationship stronger, we prioritise on the essentials and enjoy each day as it comes.
Hello Mustardo
thank you so much for your lovely , positive post. I’m so glad things are progressing well for you. I am also really pleased to read how much you value your wife’s input. I have always thought that prostate cancer is a ‘couples disease’. It affects us wives so very much, too! From my own experience, a lot of my initial emotional response was from both love and fear for my husband. But, I also recognised that he’d supported me so much through pregnancies, childbirth, menopause etc etc. its my turn to support him as best I can. I do admit that I find it very hard to watch him struggle with the ht side effects!
good luck with the treatment! '
