I had a 24 needle transperineal prostate biopsy on 4/9/23 (am). I was told to expect blood in the urine that should get better over a few days. I still have blood (red) at the start of each urination (and the end few drips) and the urine is rose to red in the bowl every time. How long should this last? (My other friends who have had this procedure said they only had light bleeding for 2-3 days). The information i was given says go to A and E if you have “persistent bleeding”, but i am unsure how that would be defined? Note they is no post biospy contact number etc that i can phone to ask in my information that i was provided. Does this fit with a normal experience of others? Getting slighlty anxious but would rather not spend 8 hours in A and E if this is normal.
You said, "the nurse asked me how I was." Did the nurse do the transperineal? I got the impression that specialist nurses now do the transrectal biopsies.
I am just at the beginning of the process. My MRI is still weeks away, (which is a little worrying) however, if my diagnosis finds I have PCa. I want to avoid HT. HT scares me more than RT, although I am worried about the potential side effects of that as well.
I have already had abdominal RT and been exposed to high radiation from approximately 12 chest/ abdominal ct scans over 6 years.

Hi Dedalus
Yes, I can see you have had "issues" in the past and I can understand your thoughts on any treatment path.
I underwent the standard biopsy - and am 21 months down the HT/RT route. I have had a few issues on my journey but 21 months on I feel amazing considering what I have been through.
If it's any help you can read my journey by clicking on the icon of the beach. If I can help you with anything please let me know.
Best wishes - Brian.
