Looking forward to saying goodby to my prostate next week. Having a psa level of 50 and Gleason score of 4+3 and six months done the line you can imagine how I feel at the moment. Been to all hospital appointments about what happens next. Doing the pelvic floor exercises as recommended at Maggie centre meeting. What worry’s me though is I have not been told what my TNM score is yet, no one has confirmed it yet but what they did say was that I am high risk. Keep monitoring urine and stool colour to see is anything has changed but all ok at the moment. Keeping my fingers crossed everything is going to turn out good eventually.
Arnie,
Welcome to the place you never thought you'd be eligible to join. Plenty of good folk here with a wealth of experience and advice. You ask the question, someone will know the answer.
Say goodbye to your Prostate from me. I wasn't suitable for surgery so I had the Hormones and Radiotherapy options. Caught it before it could spread. 10 months after the Radiation treatment ended I'm in Remission.
A lot more men having a Prostectomy are coming through well, according to recent posts. Side effects, you may be lucky.
You should get loads of posts from other men who have already had the surgery.
Best of luck.

Hi Arnie,
My only advice to you is to take things really easy for the first couple of weeks after surgery. I tried to do things far too quickly, and probably caused myself more pain than needed. Other than that, listen to what the doctors and nurses advise, and if you have any questions or worries ask them straight away.
I am nearly 3 years after surgery, cancer is in remission, and I reckon I'm doing well.
best of luck
Angus
Hi all it’s been a while since posting anything as I am still not feeling all that good after surgery (radical prostectomy) 7th Sept 2022. There’s a couple of complications, twice had Heaumaturia. One with catheter in, the other without. Trying to find and explanation as to how these events happened seemed to be misunderstood by doctors. I was discharged with medication after the surgery and was told to inject myself every night with a blood thinner (fragmin) which I did. There was at this point blood still going into the catheter bag. They discharged me the first time and said everything is ok now after a bladder flush out. Catheter removed after a fortnight. Went to bed a woke up at 5.30 in discomfort. Blood everywhere. Quickly as I could went to the bathroom, passed at least a pint of blood. My wife being very worried at this point quickly drove me to hospital which was 26miles away. Yet more treatment to flush out my bladder and uretha. Also the dreaded catheter was put in again. I further asked questions as to why they insisted keeping me on fragmin had changed their minds and the penny must have dropped at that point. I have always said, how can my euretha & bladder heal together properly if I am on blood thinners. I was told at that point not to inject myself anymore. Now have a urinary tract infection because of the second catheter. Not actually feeling very good just now as abdominal pain is very uncomfortable. Waiting on oncologist calling me at this point but no reply as yet. Hopefully all will work out well eventually. Still worried about how I feel though.
